Yes, thank you. I have worked with Michael before and I'm working with Rick now and was just wanting to get a few more ideas. I change my mind every week as it is, so I thought, why not change it every day :)

I keep going from wanting a monochrome hat to having something with a ribbon that will really stand out! I'm sure I can have both, right?
Actually, you can have both RM...sort of. Here's a Steel beaver hat with charcoal and gray smoke ribbon treatment. The customer also requested the upswept bow ends for a touch of flair.

Hah! This is my hat. I just picked it up at the post office this morning. Rick nailed the bow treatment I requested and it looks even better in person than in this photo. I have custom hats from 8 or 9 custom hatters here on the Lounge and elsewhere. Rick's work stands deservedly along side the best of them. I am thrilled with the results.
He also made a custom for my wife....and she is thrilled with it.....I have banked major brownie points for steering her to buy from Rick.

My apologies Belfastboy. I don't normally debut a hat here before the customer receives it, but I just wanted to illustrate your creative vision for that bow treatment. I'm especially happy that the Mrs. likes her hat and I hope you both wear them in good health for many years to come.

Not an issue at all. It was funny reading the description it dawned on me....damn that is my hat he is describing! I have to admit it is a fine looking fedora.

That’s one fine looking hat. I might have to commit some hat plagiarism, it wouldn’t be my first time.

I do like that option, Rick. Keep that in mind along with the shark gills - still interested in that option.

Yes, I'm really liking that. Maybe go with a Steel ribbon and use the Burgundy as the secondary color.

I'll be talking with the wife tonight based on the color pics you PM'd me this morning. I thought I was settled and now this option comes up :) What's a guy to do???

Purple might work for you Brent... Hey, it IS a unique color ... just sayin' View attachment 167792

A bit too much...and coming from me, that saying something.

I’m liking cabernet and burgundy, but I don’t see either getting much use. If Winchester ever works it out, dove gray and confederate gray are both high on my list. As for the standard colors, I’m tempted by dark brown, but I have a lot of brown hats (just not any customs).

You know, the longer I look at that purple.... :)

You know, I've often pondered about how many hats we count as "silverbelly" for lack of a better identifier. Old (black and white) Stetson ads talk about shades like Belgian beaver, light belly, sand, light sand....
Who knew they wore hats that weren't white, black or grey from old movies?

I just bought vintage ribbon, five ten yard rolls. I happen to have purple grosgrain.

The the answer is obviously to get two hats!

In all seriousness, though, maybe you go monochrome and then have the bow/knot style be the stand out feature. I can't find it at this very moment but there was a post just in the past week or two that I believe was from a museum display showing different stylings. Something more obscure would definitely make it unique and eye catching.
I think that's a very true statement. Even my developing eye spots the bow styling differences more in a monochrome than a contrasting scheme.
