I find Fabreeze to be powerless against musty hat smell. At least, on hats. Maybe it work better on the boxes.

I don't think I'd want to put it on the hat.But the boxes... it might work for them.

I recently received a hat from an eBay seller who both doused the hat with the vile stuff AND stuffed a dryer sheet into the crown of the hat! :eusa_doh:

Febreeze is one scent that without fail attacks my sinuses, leaving me with a serious headache!

I've never been one who found replacing one bad smell with another bad smell a really good solution. Now you have TWO bad smells to get rid of!

As far as boxes go, I seem to run into a good supply of those 8-sided Dobbs boxes in very good shape - they seem to be pretty tough. Around here you're never sure what's going to be inside one of those boxes. My 1930 Stetson bowler was in a Dobbs box.

That's a shame. Fabreeze doesn't bother me, and I find that using it fight a bad smell that won't go away is at best a win, at worst a stalemate. If it kills the first smell, the Fabreeze smell fades in a few days. If it fails, you're no worse off than before. [huh]

But, it matters little in this case.

I've found that the case around here as well, especially in the more rural, remote stores. And especially in those dusty old packed-to-the-gunwales places, where stuff is piled atop other stuff.
