If you got the blocks recently I suspect they came from Beaver Brand.
With the straw covering it leads me to think that they were
blocks used with a finger blocking machine.

Oooh! Thanks for the tip! I had a google and that makes perfect sense - the man I bought them from is located in MO. I don't know what a finger blocking machine is - I've been blocking them by hand and its worked well. I have 5 blocks from the same place. The Green Fedora above was made on one of their blocks - the Red one was from a different set that was purchased directly from someone who's grand father used it. My remaining block has no markings - it was a gift.

Not finished yet but here's some work In progress shots of my current project - a dark navy Fedora with cream trim. The pic of the trim is just to show color - I haven't swirled the ribbon or anything. I have matching ribbon coming In 7/8" - I may also bind the edge in cream.

I'm still waiting on lining for the Navy Fedora to arrive, so I'm getting started on a black one. I haven't used this block before - its always interesting to get acquainted! No idea what trim I'll use on this one - maybe just black on black but seriously I'm in love with that cream ribbon & I have some left...

Navy Fedora with Cream & Navy Bow. As usual, this doesn't photograph great in my indoor lighting. It still needs the edge bound in navy ribbon, a lining & hatband. The bow was fun to make. It's not striped ribbon - just something I sewed together from some different vintage ribbons.

Aw, thanks! I've taken some orders from friends and a really lovely friend of mine who runs a theatre has let me display my hats in his lobby. We'll see where it goes from here!

Finished the Black & Burgundy Fedora. Keep in mind - it's not my size hence the silly proportions while on my head! It's also a true burgundy ribbon - my iPhone camera is skewing it way too pink.
