That sounds like a lot of fun. I can never get my husband to dress up but that never stops me. I am planning on being a voodoo doll.

Wow, some excellent costumes! Like Edward, I've gone the Scissorhands route in the past; I remember spending the night before a professional exam wasting hours constructing long silver-cardboard 'blades' and fastening them to a pair of surgical gloves. The general idea was that I'd be able to surreptitiously remove a scissorhand to eat/drink, then replace it again. In the event, a little practice was all it took to manoevre food/wine to my mouth without eviscerating eyeballs.

More recently, me and my lovely partner attended a Hallowe'en bash as Hannibal and Clarice:

Went a little OTT on the details, tracking down fava beans and Chianti corks for the necklace, plus a severed ear for good measure. Partner wore L'Air du Temps perfume (just to complete the illusion that Agent Starling really was in the room) and in case anyone didn't got it, we gagged a toy lamb with duct tape. Several people looked baffled until they glimpsed the lamb, then realisation dawned.

Not sure what to go for this year...

Yeah, we thought that was a bit of a giveaway. I guess people saw the lamb first.

Not terribly easy drinking beer through a mask, in a straitjacket!

My girlfriend and I were thinking that. We just couldn't find her a flapper costume, since she's 6'2". All the costumes looked liked micro mini skirts.

A friend of mine had her baby on Halloween of last year, so this year she's throwing a Halloween/Birthday party for her little girl. I'm torn between this costume:

Or this one:

Opinions, please?

Sadly...no comments on the costumes..but you have hit on a sore point for me....so erm humour me for a moment.

This year its cool because she is 1...she wont remember....but PLEASE tell your friend to not have halloween themed birthday parties for her daughter every year.

All I ever wanted is to have -my birthday- be my day...not halloween...I wanted to be a princess and have a pink cake etc.

And all that ever happened...is another damned pumpkin cake...and sharing my day with scary costumes etc. My mother helped run a haunted house, so I even had to dress scary every year.

When deep down..I just wanted to dress as a birthday cake, and have -my- day.

ok...rant over...;)

While I feel for you having to share your b-day on Halloween (or anyone whose b-day is Christmas), my friend is hardly the sort who needs to "told" anything. She and her husband are very cool people so if their kid balks at having a Halloween-themed party any year, they'll not push it on her. After all, they're not Goths.*

*(no offense to any Goths out there. One of my best friends is a Goth and he's about the gentlest soul you could meet.)
