Thanks winterland1, GriffDeLaGriff & Monitor.

Winterland1: The work-shirts sure are tempting. I've spent so much in the last year or so, that I'm holding off on any more purchases until I've sold some of the less used items in my wardrobe. If I didn't already have a couple of pointer brand chore coats I would probably be in for one of the workshirts.

My GreyxBlack H-bones didnt make it. They didnt stand the quality-check.

Seldom have I been so bummed about a pair of pants. Tear out my heart, feed it to lions
Oh, for this one wish I beg you this tonight, show me no mercy but spare me my pride.

Kind of the liked the 'clearance' stock page they've been running over the weekend - means you get the jeans just a week after ordering. Sounds as if it's the replacement for the lucky dip Grab Bags. Took a pair of the Jades, which I've had my eye on since last year but never got around to them.
Oh, and there's a new Gustin forum: http://gustinfriends.proboards.com

Does anyone have the super lights? They are funding again and I was wondering if they are light enough for comfortable wear in summer?

I picked some up the first go around. I liked them enough in the Texas heat that I'm funding the super light zims that they have up now for next summer.

At $100 a pop, it's not exactly harmless...

Well, I did say "fairly" harmless. $100 a pop isn't bad compared to leather jackets or boots. Unfortunately, I have those vices too... :)

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm still unclear on just what selvage jeans are and how they differ from good old classic Levis Red Tab or Wranglers.

I'll preface this by saying that I'm not an expert on the subject. That said Levis and Wranglers used to be made from selvedge denim, but as some point switched to a lower cost denim. This article provides a decent explanation:

http://www.rawrdenim.com/2011/03/the-rundown-on-selvedge-denim-what-is-it-all-about/

Cost versus quality becomes a subjective discussion so I won't say that selvedge are better or worse. What I appreciate about Gustin is that it allows one to experience a range of materials at a cost point that is low relative to other selvedge denim.

Thanks for posting this Sloan. I had a hand in getting this forum going. We welcome anyone from TFL to come and check us out.
Mostly talk about selvedge jeans/shirts but branch off into other areas similiar to TFL.

About to pull the trigger and order a pair of Gustins - can anyone advise on which cut to choose? At present my favourite denims are an old pair of APC New Standards, which I would describe as slim straight. I have a pair of selvedge Edwin ED80's, that are slim - probably too slim for a chap of my age. So slim straight is the cut a tall skinny fellow like me needs…should I go Gustin 'slim' or 'straight'? I have measure my APC's that seem to fall somewhere between the 2 Gustin cuts. Decisions decisions.

The slims aren't so severe that you feel ridiculous. I received my Black X Coals today and they are a fantastic fit, but at 18oz, hellastiff.

Thanks Sloan! I think I am going to order some Heavy Americans - assuming the funding goal is reached, how long before I will see 'em in Glasgow?

It's usually four months, and then about a week and a bit after they're shipped. Oddly, they used USPS to send a ready-made pair of Jades to me, something they never do, which are now languishing in a store depot somewhere on the edge of the city. [huh]
