I'm not sure the lounge is ready for my vintage ratchet/spanner collection!
But i agree that a non outerwear thread could be cool...

For a second there I thought this was a joke, but the more I think about it I’m pretty sure it’s not...
What an interesting thing to collect!
My great uncle Carl Anderson was an inventor and when he passed away I inherited his workbench and most of the tools that were on it. All different kinds of calipers, pincers, and small pliers that I have no practical use for but they are quite wonderful to look at.

Definitely no joke... I have ratchets that are old enough to have worked on Ford Ts!
I find the fact that i can still use something that old to work on my modern bike/car pretty incredibly satisfying.
Seeing the way things evolved through the years is also very interresting, as is comparing the evolution of US made ones vs EU made ones.

To me they are beautiful enough to be displayed, i actually have "nice ratchets" sitting on my bookshelves!
As you can imagine my GF rolls her eyes at that and calls me crazy, to her they are just old steel.

As much as i enjoy it, i am also aware that it is just another weird addiction, i have a thing for sets, i will find an old ratchet that i find interresting (could be the shape, the design, the inner mechanism) in 1/2", then i NEED to find the equivalent model in 1/4" and 3/8" size, then i NEED the small variations that were just done for a couple years, it's an endless quest that goes in phases, sometimes i'm all about jackets, sometimes i'm all about ratchets, sometimes i'm all about spanners...

One never has too many pliers/pincers, one day that small plier that you have no use for will be the only plier that does the job!

@jonbuilder, I would never have done it if I knew going in it would be 5 years. After awhile I kinda forgot about it, except for posting about it here I didn’t dwell on it. There came a point where I just thought I’d wait it out and it was a little funny to post here that I was on the list for 3 years, 4 years 5 years etc.. Also the 20 or so jackets that came and went during the 5 years kept me occupied..
