From what I hear John has returned deposits to those who have asked. No scam there, those requesting and receiving their deposit back are whole. My suggestion to people on the waiting list and losing patience request your deposit back and move on shorting the waiting list. BTW I have the first Bronco A2 John made. John signed the lining and wrote Frist Good Wear Leather Bronco March 2007

Two and a bit years, I think. It arrived in September last year. By all accounts, it's a beaut: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/good-wear-a-2-dubow-20960-contract-pic-heavy.94635/
I've got an Aero depot respray on order. Probably won't see it before the end of this year, but I've got plenty of jackets and other stuff to keep me going - I haven't had a chance to wear my Wayfarer outside yet! - and I trust John to come through.

Thanks! :)

Interesting thread !
20+ years ago long before JC made jackets and was a web designer and contributor to an old version of VLJ, he and i communicated quite often and whilst he may have changed (i took an over a decade long break from all this poo ), i think the core of a person doesn’t change. He was friendly, shared his knowlege freely and never lost his temper.
However, all that does not make him a god or astute businessman. I daresay if he had to do it over, he’d do it differently.
I also think this hullaballo and knowing he was letting people down must (at least should) be crushing.
His early success ( despite some very average early offerings...) and the adoration and gushing from here and VLJ whipped up a storm of orders and ran out of control. It is a mess and that is a shame for all.
JC does need to apply a scorched earth policy to back orders i think.
And return deposits. I also think he needs to make standard sized jackets and first come, first served when selling. There’s enough custom sized GW come up for sale second hand so it doesn't ensure a jacket is a keeper. It’s also more true to authenticity. It would be cheaper. He could also make what he wanted on any given work day which would be better for his sanity.

But then i am also full of crap mostly.

@Dudleydoright, THIS!
It's interesting that you can say this out loud now without being pilloried for it, a couple of years ago it was heresy to make comments like that.
Everything you say, I agree with. And mainly that last point; right now he can't make what he wants as his passion for jackets takes him, he *has to* make the next jacket on the waiting list. And that's not going to change for YEARS. It's like a prison sentence. I could see him torching the waiting list and starting again.

Has anyone request a return of their deposit and still waiting on a return after a suitable length of time? There other options for those that require a jacket more quickly. I have not noticed anyone who has not been made whole, refund issued or jacket received. People who already have five plus jacket don't need another jacket to wear next year.

err I can understand the burden when a hobby turns into a job ( sometime I I just want to draw robot, but I got to finish a page drawing a cow and a background with lots and lots of trees), but if it get overwhelming for one person to handle... perhaps needs an assistant to do less important thing.

He doesn't need an assistant, he needs a supervisor.

Still, it's an interesting comment on our luxurious 'life of plenty' times that white collar professionals can use their specific and hard learned skill sets to earn enough money that they can give it all up and do blue collar manual work of their grandparents era, for the 'personal satisfaction' of it.
Somewhere in the third world there are kids searching barefoot through trash for things they can sell for scrap so they can eat, all the while knowing they will never get enough education to be a doctor or a lawyer.
Feeling dissatisfied with your life?
First world problems indeed.
