Call me crazy, but this afternoon I BIN'd a tiny child's Langlitz for my 4 year old daughter.

The jacket was listed a few minutes before I happened upon it (while researching jacket ideas for myself). Taken by the cuteness of the thing (and the reasonable BIN), I rapidly clicked through the photos, speed-read the description, and pounced. It was a textbook impulse-buy and it went down fast. I leaned back, rubbing my chin and contemplating what I’d done.

The seller is newish, the auction photos are poor, and the posted measurements don't match up with the photo measurements. But it looks like a great little jacket and I really hope it fits.

Nice minimal design. I think it's a dress collar Cascade made of goatskin - a good hide for a small kid. Brass talon main zip and, I think, zip sleeves. Interior crayon pocket. No action back; it appears to be a single panel or perhaps (under the tape measure) a simple yoke. I'm smiling as I detail the ‘specs’ and I can't wait to see it in person. ;)

There’s a long fade / former stain on the right shoulder extending way down along the sleeve. As long as there’s no damage to the leather I couldn’t care less.

I usually consider myself a sensible parent and I realize a Langlitz for a 4 year old is, in fact, preposterous. So be it.

Classic! That's a great pick up, and will be a great photo on the 21st birthday. Need to get him a wild one hat, and some temporary tattoos. I'm quite chuffed with the whole idea. Great stuff.

That looks cute. I am sure you and your daughter will get lots of attention wearing matching leather. In stead of a hat, a pair of gloves will come handy to protect her little fingers when zipping the heavy talon.

Mate, that is just superb. You have my vote for Dad of the Year!

You'll need to feed her less though to stunt her growth so she doesn't grow out of it too quickly :D

Tell me about it - I don't even have a Langlitz.

She'll likely get 9 to 18 months (tops) wear out of this thing. Afterwards, we have plenty of young contenders in our friend and family group to inherit the jacket. Or, I'll just keep it. It sure beats bronzed baby shoes ;)

This thread made my day! Keep it! Once she grows up, she will appreciate the fact that her dad got her the best (and coolest - seriously, it's beautiful) leather jacket ever and besides, this is Langlitz we're talkin' about here, no doubt that one day her kid will wear it. :D

Sleeves are too long by 0.3 inches, even for a riding jacket. Body by 0.2. Have it exchanged for a smaller size.

XD

Super cool jacket and she looks absolutely adorable! She might get a few more months of wear from this jacket than what you've first guessed!

Haha! I considered opening a mock-thread asking for fit opinions, with her providing context with respect to layering and usage (both on and off the bike), all while second guessing the rear yoke (too masculine?) and hemming and hawing about the jacket / sleeve length while praising the quality of the hide.

Seriously, the jacket exceeds what were already high expectations. It's really well put together. She's comfortable in it now, and might be able to wear it all the way through next winter. A lucky find.

In a few years, when she is hitting you up for yet "another" high-end custom jacket, and absolutely refusing to wear the same "cheap mall trash" as her quality-ignorant friends, you sir, will both swell with pride, and at the same time recoil at the ever-growing thinness of your wallet. And you can look back and know the exact moment when all this started!

Congratulations on a cute kid and a stellar find.

My understanding of kids clothes is always go for large size as they grow really fast.
