Hch. Klipper Offenbach a. M. "Extra Quality", measures 58.5cm, Crown 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 inches, 156 grams, Wool or Wool Blend, no paper label, Seller dated 1905. This Melone has a really interesting Form and Brim work with a 1 3/4 inch Ribbon / Band. I will take a photo wearing it later today so you can see the overall effect. Unfortunately there is some damage to the front of the ribbon but it's 100+ years old. I think the seller's (belonged to great grandfather) dating is accurate.

I was able to find a small help wanted advertisement for Hch. Klipper & Comp in the Intelligenz-Blatt der freien Stadt Frankfurt, Part 4 (1862). I am also waiting on some more information from the Seller.

You wear it well. This is why I like stiff felts, they make such a statement in public, in your face...this is a hat! Love the lines on this beauty, kind of smooth and flowing (if you can say that about a Bowler). Yay Steve!

I always love a back bow! Interesting seeing this style in a 1997 hat. Is it some type of special model as a homage to the 1950s? Crown height is interesting, not high, but still there.

Nice finds Manfred. I like the Habig especially. Is it about the hunt or is it about the finds?

Been away for a few days visiting Rome so I have some catching up to do. In between sightseeing I did manage to find a few hats there too. Here's one of them and the most interesting one I think. Hut Schick in grey, size 58. Brim 4,5cm and crown at 11cm. Bound edge and ribbon in the colour of the hat. I think this one is quite early. Softer felt than one would expect from a homburg, so more of a dress hat with a rolled edge. I suspect a mix of wool and fur was used for the felt. Peculiar is that the front side of the brim is shorter than the back. I's still in very good shape. I looked on Steve's website but Hut Schick hats are quite rare it seems; couldn't find a similar one. My guess is late thirties or forties.

I've been looking into that, but you surely have more information than I do. I did find these little bits of info. Note that on the postcard only stores are pictured. I would think that if they manufactured hats themselves they would have shown the factory as well.

Stefan, Thanks! I went back and found the information Celia posted (see link below). The name is Otto H. Schick who was the son of Wilhelm Schick, and lived from 1899 to 1856.

Also forgot to mention the brim on the Hut Schick. I do not believe I have seen that before. Can you make out the writing in the upper right corner (3.) of the paper label?
