It's possible it was made by Hückel Weilheim. There is nothing from the construction or paper label that helps identify the maker. Probably a brandless hat sold by a specific store / shop. It also has some Homburg elements which is typical of these style hats. If you look back through this thread or at my site you will see other examples. BTW do you know the first letter on the paper label of the ? Antilope hat?

As far as I recall it was a 'P', thus reading P.F.J.

A. Peschel, Garmich, size 7 3/8. This one is from Dinkelsbühl and made for the American market. Fantastic Velour finish and overall quality. Probably late 1950s early 1960s and in near new condition. An amazingly well made hat for this time period.

Mayser Echt Panama, size 58cm. Wide brim open weave from Cuenca everything else Mayser. Probably 1980s or 1990s but fine detail work. Really like the liner patch, ribbon and bow.

Juanty, Thanks! It's an over welt but I couldn't detect any stitching. I believe there is some type of adhesive cord inside and the felt is crimped over top of it. I picked at the seem but it's on there tight.

That's my favorite brim treatment: an overwelt that's been glued down rather than sewed. I like it better even than the Cavanagh edge. What a lucky find, and in a lighter color, too!

Hückel Promo Pocket Mirror

I received this this old promo JHS pocket mirror a while back but never posted photos. It's not in very good shape but I really like the image. They have a blow-up of this same image on display at the Novy Jicin City Museum JHS exhibit.

In your collection and research, how many have you run across? It seems to be mostly an American edge treatment. I suppose Borsalino got into them specifically for their American market.

In your collection and research, how many have you run across? It seems to be mostly an American edge treatment. I suppose Borsalino got into them specifically for their American market.

Brad, I have never seen a felted edge on a German or Austrian made hat. I have also never seen them mentioned. I have a hatter friend (very knowledgeable) in Germany that was amazed by the felted edge.
