Mayser Hats Year 125 (1925)

I translated the "Mayser Hats Year 125" booklet from 1925. You can click on the pages and images to enlarge. Also click on the embedded links to see the associated images. I still need to fix some minor translation issues.

Wegener "Luxor" "Manhattan", 58 cm, possibly very early 1960s very late 1950s. I picked this up because it was NOS, an interesting model name and has major (over welt) brim flange. The felt has a great finish and color. Also very pliable so easily dry creases.

Hard to leave such a nice hat behind, especially when it's in that condition. Very nice.

Love that two tone ribbon, Stefan. Really gives flair to the hat. Nice looking liner, too.

Wegener fedora in brown (with a greyish tone). Size 57,with the raw edge brim at 6,2cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. It's a modern Wegener, but I liked the shape and the two-tone ribbon a lot, so why not.

Wilke velour in "Flieder", which means lilac. Well, it's not lilac now, so this one does need some work done. Wilke velour backbow in a size 6, but it seems to have shrunk three sizes over the decades, ebcause it fits me perfectly. Raw edge brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Couldn't find anything on the retailer Peter Groll of Köln am Rhein, whose name is both on the liner and on the sweatband. Likely twenties.

Here's a glimpse of what the original colour would have been. The hat is terribly dirty. What says the lounge: straight to naptha or water and soap first?

Congrats on your new velour, Stefan. It will look so cool if you can get that lilac colour back. Good luck with it.

Stefan, Great find! The size should be 56 cm. C. G. Wilke Guben only used the second cm number for sizing. The liner color seems to match the original color. Do you think you can restore the Velour? Is it just dirt or faded or both?

Thank you, Steve. I think a bit of both. The hat is very dirty and well worn. Some of the original colour should be hiding underneath the dirt though.

What are the odds. Thought I wouldn't see another one of these anytime soon when I found the first one, but what would you know?
FGM Bayerland "Solid" velour in black. Fedora in a size 56 with the raw edge brim at 7cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Great felt and a nice velour, just like the first one, but this one has a wonderful looking liner as a bonus. Same shark gill bow as the other one. Weighs 134 grams.

Stefan, Really fantastic! The small quality check number label (my guess) is very similar to what was used by JHS. Also the paper label and some of components are reminiscent of JHS.

Fantastic, Stefan: These additions are wonderful.
The "Wilke" in the condition of the "Bayerland" would be just great,
but I wish you every success in improving the Wilke at least a little.
It is worth it!
