Haha, thank you! I suddenly realised it was just me posting one thing after another, and I felt a bit like a crazy lady having a conversation with myself :) I love seeing everybody's hats and the friendly banter here, but I'm really in my element digging through archive materials and doing research, so I get a bit carried away...
I'm reading all this as I can. I love it. Steve, Celia, everyone who posts here. It's amazing all the history tied up in these hats, and I find it very interesting.

Thanks! Bossi is a brand that I have some what neglected. I would like to find an old Soft Felt but I don't believe I have come across one during a general search. I have a good number of digital copies of their old advertisements but nothing of real substance. Here is advertisement from the December 5th 1936 edition of the Austrian Hat Makers News.

I'll be sure to let you know if I ever come across a Bossi soft felt. There is some information on the fate of the company during WWII in Gerald D. Feldman's recent book Austrian Banks in the Period of National Socialism.
You can read it on Google books: https://books.google.de/books?id=Mp...CwKHaajCNIQ6AEIGjAA#v=onepage&q=bossi&f=false

Thanks! I have come across post WWII Bossi Soft Felts so must have continued under Ebreichsdorf Filzhutfabrik AG (S.J. Fraenkel) . In the Kelly's Directory Of Merchants, Manufacturers And Shippers, 1915, Austrian Hat Manufacturers it's Gius. (Giuseppe) Bossi .

Note that after "Bossi. Gius." it says "Nflg.", which is short for Nachfolger, ie. Successor. Giuseppe Bossi died in 1891. In 1907 the street crossing the Auhofstrasse on which the hat factory stood, was named "Bossigasse" after him, in honour of his services to the Austrian hat industry abroad and his philanthropic work.

Otto Matt Hutmacher, Anton Schneider-Str 13, 6900 Bregenz. I was doing some searching and found the shop in Bregenz, Austria. The location now a gallery for maker (Michael Resistant) of Wood Salt and Pepper Mills and a gold smith (Hiltrud Greiner). I will send them a message and see if they have any information on Otto Matt.

The interior of the shop. I will have to check and see if the cases are original.

Brüder Böhm, 58cm Point 5 1/2, Crown Open 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 1/4 inches probably 1930s. Fantastic Hot Wet Brushed Black Velour - Soleil that is very pliable and absorbs all light. The company paper label with model, form and color information is missing. I would like to thank Celia for letting me know about this hat which she found on French Ebay. This is a rare find.
