Not sure about the J. Heinr. JTA vs. J. Heinr. ITA distinction.

Johann Hückel´s Söhne Bowler

Johann Hückel´s Söhne Flexible Bowler (1930s maybe earlier)

Just got this rare Hückel Bowler back from Optimo. I had them put in a liner. Not sure if it had one originally. It has to be least the 1930s but a good possibility earlier. It fits like a 6 but label states 6 1/2.

Pallas Homburg

Pallas Homburg (late 1950s)

This is a really nice size 59cm gray Homburg that was mislabeled as a Bowler (Melone). The hat arrived open crown and looks like it was seldom worn. The gray felt is very pliable so it can easily take side dents which isn't always the case with Homburgs. The sweatband matches the color of the felt and has a super feel. The ribbon and bow work are also very nice. I am thinking late 1950s. I do not have any information on Pallas but this hat is of high quality.

You have a hat festival over there??!! What a wonderful set of pics and a beautiful place. Many thanks.

We do! Biggest one in the world, as the organiser claims. I only got to know about it recently. It is not far away from Augsburg and Munich. Here is the weblink. No English content, unfotunately, but sone pictures to get an impression.

Looks like a fun time. Nice bowler too. Also see HutKoenig Regensburg was present.

P. & C. Habig Homburg 1961

P. & C. Habig Homburg size 58cm from 1961. It has a some damage to the ribbon / bow from mis-staking but other than that it is in super condition. Also thinner ribbon and a little more side curve than usual.

P. & C. Habig paper labels are very consistent over time and actually show the production year. It is the last number in the long sequence which in this case is XXXXX/XXXX/61 (1961).

Again a great find! I am still looking for one to come up in my size. There are so many that must have been sold, here, but do not appear on the market :(

A few weeks ago, I went so the Breiter shop in Munich to see what hats they have. Not much to see really, most of the shop space is now used for clothes.

Thanks! This one was miss labeled as a Melone which appears to be common. I have decided to send it to Optimo to get a new ribbon because I really like it.

I think if you can find a 59cm it should be ok because I normally wear 59cm but these Habig Homburgs appear to run big one size. This is based on a 59cm (sold to a friend) I had and two 58cm (one of them you sold me).

Sorry to hear about Breiter. They must have had a great store back in the day. I have a couple of their lower end store line hats.

Hückel Superior Homburg

Hückel Superior Homburg, Dark Blue, Size 55cm. This one was made by Johann Hückel´s Söhne (Novy Jicin) in the late 30s out of Bulgaria. It is not my size but I was able to get it for $75.00 so went for it as a collectors piece. The felt is actually dark blue and of very high quality with matching dark blue sweatband + retractable rope loop for hanging. The liner is lite purple with very fine detail work. There is no binding but I think it adds to the look. The condition is excellent.

Lembert

Here is my Lembert that I fished from the eBay:

Trachten-label.jpg

It's in really good shape. It has several decorative pins stuck on it here and there, which I assume are add-ons. I don't know if the feathered band is also an aftermarket addition, but it's certainly decorative.

Definitely a fun and festive lid!

Sue, Thank you for posting the Lembert. Looks like a very nice Miesbacher. I am pretty sure the feathers are a add on. I am thinking very late 50s early 60s. Is the liner sewn in (doesn't appear to be)?

Thanks, Mayserwegener. The lining is glued.
