I was in on the periphery of the advertising world for some time and at parties some interesting tales were told as to the reasoning behind various ads. The following is an excellent analysis of the Burger King ad: Mark Crispin Miller, a professor of media studies at New York University and author of a book on the marketing campaign behind the "Marlboro Man," said the ad reeked of a "certain desperation" just to make an impression. "This is really straining to be dirty," Miller said. "This is objectionable because it's outrageously exaggerating the pleasure of Burger King.".:p

A little something for the ladies;
A classic from the BBH stable, this ad announces the launch of the first Levi's stonewashed jeans. It's 1950s small town USA, a GI stands watching the girls. Behind him a man walks into a launderette carrying a bag of small rocks which he pours into one of the machines. He then proceeds to remove his clothes down to his boxers and socks, and put them in the machine. A thoroughly honed physique is admired by all as he takes his seat against the wall. Levi's: Now available stonewashed
