Finally decided ti let go of my very last Goodwear. But I plan to replenish soon with another one. The reason is due to the pattern/fit.
The Doniger is one of the more interesting and quirky A2 patterns, most enthusiasts can spot it from a mile away due to the pointy collar, horizontal shoulder angle and slim body. I was in town and a fan literally spotted it from down the block!
This is made from John’s stiff goat. It takes a long time to break in. I have not worn it out much to move the needle. One reason is the size 44. I need a 46 even for Roughwear or Monarch.
The rear armhole curve of the Doniger is very prominent, therefore though it has a 19” shoulder, the more important horizontal dimension, which is the shoulder blade span (roughly this is the line connecting the ends of the back sleeve seams, for this jacket), is 18”. Therefore when try to bend forward to tie shoelaces, I am not able to.
Photos. Will post measurements in a bit.
