From pixie to.. what?!

Ladies (and gents.. if you are in the know),
I have a question:
My year hasn't started well hair-wise. On the very first work day of the year I hopped off to get my hair done: coloring, some trimming here and there.. Regular "hair maintenance" as you'd call it. :D
I have short hair, but gosh.. the lady at the shop went a little mad with the machine, and buzzed off much (much!) more that anyone would like. She has created a mess (a bold spot above my left eat, to be exact).. and in order to "sort it out", she went ahead and gave me a free cut - a pixie cut.
Most of the days after that I wore a wig.
(until I realized it's causing skin rashes on my scalp) double
Right now, I'm hair dressed free. I died my hair back to brown (it was copper red before). And I wear the most unattractive hairstylist you can see on the image to your left. That is, indeed me, with my remaining hair pinned up.

How on earth do I get out of pixie-madness?
I'm considering mid-sized bangs.

I see.

The first photograph I posted is from aprx two months after Miichan's troubles. The following two are about six months after.

So it does not take much time.

In another thread I mentioned my nieces had cut their hair for Locks Of Love. There was a slight awkward phase during the few beastly hot, humid days of summer but if anything the girls looked cuter than ever if that is even possible.

The days of the front bangs, side bangs, long twintails have passed. This woman is twenty-nine years of age but looks dated with the front and side bangs despite not having her hair up in twintails.

Having short hair is better than having a hairdo more suited to a young girl. We cannot be Hatsune Miku or Suzumiya Haruhi forever.

It has been three months since original posting. I sure there has been much improvement for you. The Natalie Wood style is very becoming.

For myself I went from having a short pixie a la Jean Seberg to having a bob with a side fringe - you basically have to just keep cutting off the ducktail/mullet and let the rest of it grow out as there's not really any styles between those two lengths (unless of course you want to rock a mullet - each to their own :p) then for the bangs i guess its up to you and what suits your face shape - you could go bettie bangs, midsize bangs more like audrey hepburn or the natalie wood photo you showed or you could go for more of a blunt Louise Brookes style. I have mine longer because I put mine up into a pompadour or a roll but obviously that takes time so you could always get it cut into a shorter front bang and then "graduate" to a different style as they grow out :)

Hope that helps and that info was what you were after!

lol
(it's funny 'cause I understand this) :pound:
It's been a while since my original post, and you can see on the left - there is an improvement. No longer do I look like darn Tinkerbell (there's nothing wrong in looking that way, but I got a bit too old for that style)

you basically have to just keep cutting off the ducktail/mullet and let the rest of it grow out
...and that is exactly what I've been doing all this time. :D

Thats what Ive just started doing. Its a pain because I want to go back to dying my hair black (its red at the mo) but Im scared that black would be too harsh when my hair is this short.

Good to know Im not alone :D
Mine was a pixie by choice, after bleaching my hair a bit much and having to do something drastic. I miss setting my hair so badly at the moment. Im about 6 - 8 weeks into growing it out. Been told this is the worst stage. Due to have the first back trim next week to stop the mullet look.

yeah, it definitely is the worst stage! unfortunately my hair grows uber slowly so despite the fact I had mine shaved almost a year and a half ago I've only just got to the point where my hair is one length (although i did get it cut into a pixie cut around november last year so that set me back a little). In fact i could possibly still need to get the back cut out just due to damage (Im a swimming instructor). It's just under an inch past my ear at the moment.

You could try going to a dark auburn or a mahogany to see if that's a little softer but closer to what you're after? i think darker colours work better on short hair actually because i think the definition helps it to look more feminine sometimes but that's my two cents (though Im sure the red looks lovely :))

I chopped my hair off about a month ago and opted for a pixie cut. I actually really enjoy having it this short, but I'm kind of looking forward to the growing out process as well. Really, so long as you keep the back short so you don't look too mullet-y, it's not that hard to do. Clips and pins and headbands are also lifesavers when you're really frustrated with it.

Urgh mine has reached the stage where its still really short and annoyingly fluffy/unruly and the manshape is now calling me his "little mod". :eusa_doh:
Ive taken to twisting the front section and pinning it to keep it out my eyes. This growing out malarky feels like its taking forever, can't wait to start wet setting my hair again.

Exactly the same here.
...and I seem to be stuck in that "in between" phase for major part of my life.

Its at the phase where Im impressed with how quickly its growing around my ears and on top. But at the same time, wishing it would grow faster. Another person said to me today I looked a little bit "Mod like" with that hair. *sigh* this time next year Ill have reasonable length to my hair again and that is what I must remember!

i had to take pictures for a visa the other day and compare it to passport photos I got a few months ago and it actually really showed how much my hair had grown - the problem really is that while you're waiting for the top to grow out it feels like its not really growing at all and its SO frustrating! now that my hair is finally one length the new growth is more obvious and i'm feeling much happier about it :) So chin up ladies, we'll get there!

Has your hair also started showing that Crusty the Clown bushy-around-ears moments in the middle of your day?

There's that phase (the one I like), and then there's the other phase, the "I'm going to have this thing cut"; and they keep pushing me to their sides. The biggest issue here is not to weak-out.. at least that is my largest issue.

...
You know, in order not to fall into the "flame" and get my hair cut, I resist any and all urges of visiting a hairdresser. My dad cuts my hair (and that is not as nearly as scary as the time I had my brother cut it) lol

l

I wear glasses, so I get either the "mushroom" look when the arms are on the top of my hair, or the Clown/antenna look if the glasses are under the hair. its a loose loose situation. My hair has also started to get parts of its natural kink back. Its making for interesting texture.....not always good, but interesting.

Finally convinced the Mr that he was capable of trimming the nape of the neck straight across. feels a little better.

I also wear glasses and I remember that stage being hideous! I luckily only wear mine for night driving, lectures and movies and I used to wear a bandana, a beret or an alice band so that I could put that effectively over the glasses arms to sort of hide it - it *kind of* worked.

i meant to say as well, today i went for a walk with a dog and it was windy and i thought "gosh my hair is annoying!" and then went, "hold on! my hair is long enough to be caught by the wind! woohoo!" haha it was quite exciting for me :)

:cheer2:
I had that moment, and I glorified it.
Having my head nearly shaved (not by my choice) was truly frustrating, so seeing that my hair is growing...
And, last week I met a person who hasn't seen me in some time. He told me "Your hair looks great" :thumb:

Hmm, might be time to dig out the bandanas and hair scarfs then!
But, could I manage it in the office? :nono:
My ideal friend these days is: hairspray. :D
