Mr. Earp was good friends with movie cowboy Tom Mix, and very much enjoyed the 1920s Hollywood scene. It shouldn't really be mind-boggling -- the "wild west" was as removed from the 1920s as the 1970s and 80s are from us today -- but nevertheless, it is.
