Well, for me, any film with Jean Gabin, especially La Grande Illusion (1937) and Quai des Brumes (1939), a movie that has one of best love scenes in cinema, in my opinion.

One of my favorites is Bicycle Thieves (Ladri di biciclette (1948)) Directed by Vittorio DiSica. One of the best I've ever seen and beautifully presented/restored by Criterion collection with lots of extras. Also I'll second Grand Illusion.
