Up for sale on eBay (I posted a link) is this very rare 1950’s G-1 jacket made by L.W. Foster in a very large size 44 (I am 6’ 1” and weigh 215 lbs and the jacket does fit me).

This jacket was once in the collection of noted military jacket expert John Chapman of Goodwear Leather manufacturing.

The thick, rich, pliable seal brown goatskin is superb, excellent condition overall with gorgeous patina and graining.

The original zipper is a blackened Conmar and it works just fine.

The knits are original (jacket has rare single ply rib/rack waistband in the very desirable dark burgundy brown color) as is the gorgeous dark red/brown mouton collar (only one tiny area of fur loss, barely noticeable).

I would grade this jacket as a 9.5 out of 10. It is a truly exceptional example of a Korean War era G-1 jacket (probably the very best era for G-1 jackets). These 1950’s jackets are getting harder to find in large sizes and in such good condition!

Measurements:

Armpit to armpit: 24 inches

Sleeve: 27 inches

Shoulders: 21 inches

Back length: 26 inches

My buy-it-now is $549 but I am open to reasonable offers, especially to my friends here on TFL.

For those of you asking for fit pics, I took these today (note to self: never take fit pics after 4 days of Thanksgiving feasting! I think I’ve gained 10 pounds!!!!).

Yes, that's VERY nice. I have a Foster from the same period, even the same contract. One of my favorite jackets! Good luck, Thor!
