^^ Very nice - wish I could take an 8-mile hike now, but I could maybe do a few miles on Cross Country skies.

Best way ever to break in bootws - go hiking - especially where Angus roam free.

You might like Nick's Urban Loggers's with the Vibram 100 sole. White's make a very similar boot.

Oh man that winter is too real, I'm sure the Midwest is getting a lot of snow right now. Keep warm!

I agree, it's always a nice sight and smell lol

I do like Nicks or Whites but I'm not too sure on their sizing. those loggers do look like it will take abuse and be sturdy about it

Break in continues for my Benzein Maryam Toscanello Horse Rump service Boots for an 8 mile hike today. I need some proper hiking boots with proper outsoles, probably getting a rough out or waxed RO sometime this year with commando or lug soles.

Thank you, man. I'm trying to get the pants department catch up a little too. It's so nice to find inspiration here because of all the members sharing their own personality and their styles. So in that way I can pick and choose what I want to emulate, granting I have already have something similar in my wardrobe.

Another rabbit hole I jumped down myself this weekend. Snagged a pair of Naked & Famous selvedge denim pants on eBay. Entry level, I know, but I figure minimal investment to see if I want to dive any further into selvedge.

It really is interesting to see all the styles from members all over the world. I'm definitely just a minnow around here, usually scrounging around on the second hand market. My tastes are pretty eclectic, so I enjoy learning about all these global suppliers and brands. On the other hand, maybe that's just a sign that I haven't found my style yet.

I like that single hole captoe. Adds a little something, while remaining old fashioned looking and not going overboard with the brogueing.

What do you mean the leather? They look like my whites mp boots with cap toe and commando half soles. You can get the mp in a 55 last too or even 8 inch mp through franklin and poe.

Yes very much like the MP boots in style. At some point in the distant future I could see myself upgrading these to White's MP boots.

The leather is kudu. Like a great antelope. Its soft, pliable, and tough. Plus its full of interesting wear marks from it running around and getting scratched on brambles etc.

I mean, I could buy some from C F Stead and supply it to White's for a special pair but it seems like too much work? Dunno. Basically just trying to say I like a lot about the boot except the comfort/quality of the sole.

I like my mp but like the 55 last farmer rancher better. Maybe it is just due to the cap or the last but the mp boot is a little narrow at the ball and pinches just a bit

Yeah the 55 last is really magic on my feet. I’ll keep experimenting for now but I can easily imagine a future in which I only wear boots in the 55 last.

That’s pretty much what you would have to do, but I’ve seen people do that. I know a lot of go through Bakers, a distributor for Whites and some other brands. I inquired about once, essentially you supply the leather to Bakers who will send it Whites. No discount for supplying but an nice option to have nonetheless.

Oh Bakers is great for sure. Have 2 pair Semi Dress, 1 “Bakers Oxford” aka Hathorn Traveler, and 1 Wesco Boss from them (so far heh).

Their help with the fit has been fantastic.

Ive read about people doing super custom orders but not sure I have the interest. And the leathers they already offer are great of course

I also got entry level selvedge w/ brave star. I just bought one to see how they fit me and if it fits great I might buy a couple more of their old stock denim for $68 (although you can't pick what you get)

I hear you, all my custom jackets have a little bit of quirky design to it just to make it a little different from other jackets. I think I'm slowly getting somewhere where I know I can wear a jacket for years on end so I'm slowly leaning into clean classic cuts. It's a little hard for me to get something vintage/preowned off the rack, I tried that 4x before and nothing worked out for me so I've been having jackets made instead so I know it will work for me from the get go and not buy and sell jackets which is too much effort

I only heard about that brogueing here, had no clue what it was until someone pointed it out before. I do think it's neat and I'm glad it's there lol
