My boots from Flame Panda finally arrived :)
Sorry for the bad pics - my photo skills are not on a high level...

It's his 181 last.
Leather is black CXL
Hardware Nickel
6 inch

The craftmanship is outstanding. Never in my life I had such a well made boot. Of course the leather is still stiff, but that last fits my feet very well.
Peng does great work and it's great to deal with - that's why a second boot is in work hopefully soon!
These are one of the nicest pairs of boots I’ve ever seen.

Yes! Go for it! What toe construction and outsole did you specify on yours?
GYW flatwelt 270 degree construction. Structured toe. Black Dr. Sole half soles. Black edge.

Also, black is the way to go for that first engineer. That's what I'm doing. I ordered my FP engineers back in Sept and based on Peng's original estimates I was hoping to get them in February, but I've not heard anything from him so who knows where I'm at in his queue.

Black is the classic - and probably shifts faster used if you think you might end up passing them on in future. I think as long as I were sure of a good fit for me (no slight on the skill of the bootmaker; Engineers just seem to be very much something you just have to find the 'right' pattern for your own foot), I think I'd be led by the colour of the jackets I'd be most likely to wear it with. That's how I started on the multiple boot thing - first came brown and then oxblood leather jackets as well as the black ones, then boots had to match.... :D

These are very nice indeed. Any more information? The red is a nice, unusual touch without being ott.

Motor gen 3. The most comfortable to wear engineer that i own. Last, size all perfect for me.

Very nice indeed - Japanese? (Nice jeans, too).

I was playing around on the Wesco site last night and discovered there's really very little price difference between a 'custom' pair and the stock offerings. I put together a draft of a pair of black boots, leather sole, red thread, clutch pads, brass buckles, two calf-straps, longer ankle strap.... A lot of options, and it came out around $600. Not ordering right now, but I can see how I could get hooked on those...

My latest discovery is Jeffrey West's new design, the Trobadour Boot:

A bit more of a pointy, Western toe than I would normally go for, but I've looking for some time for a boot that has a very easy zip & go fit with a nice aesthetic (I don't care for chelsea boots); this actually could well fit the bill. Penny loafers are great for air travel in warmer weather, but I'd prefer something more covering in Winter. Not cheap either, but cheaper than Wescos, and would still look good I think with my leathers. Only snag is there doesn't seem away to preserve those lovely sole-designs, but hey... Tempted by the idea of a factory visit once I have a big clear out, after the plague...

They are called Dayton Driver. I can't seem to find them on their website anymore. May be they are discontinued.

I was actually looking for the drivers about 2 weeks ago and couldn’t find them. They will do customs so you can probably recreate the driver look fairy easily. Or I suppose just say make me a driver haha. But I was surprised to see they were no longer listing them as stock. Their most stand out model for sure.

I have to say that there is possibly a flaw in the driver's design. The rollup edge of the shaft is very thick and the leather itself quite rigid that it keeps cutting into my leg. I know it takes time to break in but I think by the time that they are broken in, my leg and the edge would be in pieces. As it is, my skin and the leather are both peeling off.

The company motto is "Life's too short to wear boring shoes"! They have a very definite gothic aesthetic, always put me in mind of some of Dave Vanian's stage-wear. Not owned any yet myself. I first heard of them when they did a brogue in collaboration with The Chap; I didn't have the scratch at the time and missed getting a pair, but I handled them and they were lovely. They're solidly made and I would say, quality-wise, as good as an other dress shoe in their price band that I've handled, though obviously the aesthetic of a lot of their stuff is going to be marmite. My only disappointment is that their ladies range so far seems to be limited to a few cowboy boots; the wife is a dormant goth, and I think she'd love a ladies version of some of the other designs.

The Trobadour boots are a new model I've yet to handle, but if they're up to the standard of those I have, they'll be great. I wouldn't put them through what I would a work boot, but then that's notg what they're designed for...

I will wait until the lockdown eases to check out their shop, if you're still interested we can go there together?
