I thought in Roermond or perhaps I mixed it up with another brand who makes similar shoes (Church's?)....I'm not (yet) the expert...more with Italian shoes...so far ;)
Indeed, there's a Church outlet store in Roermond. I own one pair but I'm not a huge fan. Quality is ok but not great.

Thanks for correcting my original message. Good to know that Crockett and Jones are high quality shoes, just in case I need new business shoes in the future.

Never seen it at the same price point. Could be the US line is older stock and that the production shifted to Mexico? Some tiem around the turn of the century, DMs dropped production in England, and shifted to Thailand, China, and several other places. The basic, eight-eyehole, classic DM boot still sold for years for the £45 I paid for MiE in 1993, but in oder to maintain the price the market demanded they had to keep shifting to cheape production facilities and dropping the quality of the materials. After a while they really weren't the same boots. Is itg possible Frye were at the start of this trend, hence the overlap of boots made in different places?

I don't think it's a case of the U.S. stock being older, as I believe they haven't changed ownership since before they came out with this particular line. My guess is that at some point after the Addison line came out, about two years ago or so, they began to make a cheaper line in their Mexican plant (which been in operation for some time). For all I know they could be knock-offs, but there's a significant difference in the quality of the boots. I only noticed the difference because I was surprised to see they were using Horween, and when I looked at another pair I saw they weren't, and that the soles were more typical of the Mexican operation. It would be interesting to see if they wee charging the same price. The ones I got are really well made, though, especially at the price I paid for them.

These new Clinch Engineer boots made of Latigo leather were also offered to me after I bought the Jodhpur boots for less than 800€ including shipping, import duty and VAT...would have been a great deal as the store had my size (US8) but I'm not sure if I'm the Engineer boot guy:

That's the perfect way to give it a shot
You're definitely right but maybe for someone else as I've already ordered the Jodhpur boots and as I'm still not yet sure if Clinch is worth that much money compared to other makers and as I have to check sizing/general fit...the risk would be too high.

The offer wouldn't give you the time to receive the Jodhpur and examine them?
Plenty of time. I would receive the Engineers next week (the store is in Europe) and the Jodhpur middle/end of August but I don't want to cancel the Jodhpur boots order as I prefer them over the Engineers. I'm pretty sure that I will regret my decision when I have the Jodhpur boots in my hands but I already informed the store that I don't want to buy them....

Thanks for the wicked fast response. I was looking at the Dainite on a Cordovan, or doing the HH on the Commando sole. If I ever do. They just intrigue me at that price point. Dont need them for any sort of work or weather conditions. Have boots for that. Also dont need dress boots, have those as well. I just find myself checking them out frequently. I usually go to their sale page once a week or so and I usually end up looking at the boots again ha. If I do though like I said on the same page with you Dainite or Commando.

Jarrow Marcher. In fact, this thread made me dig them out...

Never heard of this brand but they do look beautiful and perfectly match your leather jacket!

Ok, my bad: It´s the "Jarrow Marcher" Boot from Aero, named after a groupd of protestors in the UK. Aero has them made by a small outfit in Northhamptonshire (a "White-label product so to say…). I have commented on quality/Value-for-money earlier in the thread and just wanted to add a photo. Should have been a bit more precise...

They seem like new!
Question: is the sole a Dainite or a Dainite-type one?

I take "like new" as a compliment ;). I do try to take proper care with my shoes/boots, as I don´t like them too scuffed. Fine line between "care for" and "babying" though.

It´s a regular Dainite sole. I usually prefer leather soles, but I Need the occational foul-weather pair. A good compromise is the leather sole William Lennons uses. Pretty much bullet- and rainproof.

There will be other opportunities :)

@Robbie79 I'd go for those engineers in a heartbeat. Can't get engineers better than Clinch.
I wish I could as they are just beautiful and I'm not sure if there's ever such an opportunity for Clinch Engineers. Do you think the boots are worth $900 as I have no idea which type of leather the overdyed Latigo leather is? Of course the store offered me a huge discount. The Latigo leather is obviously less expensive than their overdyed horsebutt but I don't have a comparison....perhaps this leather type is just not high quality leather compared to their horsebutt?

I believe Latigo is Horween, its cowhide and it is chrome tanned first, then veg. tanned over top. Ive never owned it though and thats as far as my knowledge goes.

My experience is that Latigo is a nice leather but very thick. Too thick imho. The Horsebutt is more pleasant to wear.
