Well, quite, I knew I had forgotten something. If you can only grow one herb, make it parsley.
When the weather is warm I like to sit in the garden wearing my pith helmet and feasting on kedgeree.

I bloody love kedgeree, and it's simply one of the best hangover recuperation meals there is. Thankfully it seems to be experiencing a resurgence of sorts.

Tomasso, I used to go to a Jewish deli when I was a kid in New York City. It was affectionately called Windy Dink. The man was a lunatic. In my neighborhood there were many such delis, but, only one Winky Dink. The abuse was dished out with the fries.

The ambiance was worth going to this place the screaming from Mr. Dink and insanity. Laughing so hard I could not eat my food.lol lol lol lol

I'm not a mad keen cake fiend, and when it does comes to cake, I have no particular fondness for carrot cake.

But I've been studying French at Alliance Francaise in Sydney, and they have a wonderful little coffee shop...with the most divine carrot cake in the world. All their food is good, but this carrot cake...oh, I haven't the words! No cake will ever taste this good again. I've been foisting it on everyone, even buying them to take to my mother to convince her it is the Cake of the Gods. Rich and smooth and to die for, totally embued with flavor, the most perfect texture, put together like a giant cupcake, and with an icing that I assume has sour cream or cream cheese. Just...heaven. I never thought I'd rave over carrot cake.

For comfort food you cannot beat that All-American favorite: The Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich! Goes great on whole wheat toast. Accompany with a glass of milk or coffee (maybe wine?) and an apple or banana for desert. :)

:) Anyone remember them? Those hot round grilled-cheese sandwiches that you had to be careful not to blister your mouth with?

My mother saved this one for me, it was made between 1946 and 1948. It still gets a regular workout in my kitchen, especially during the fall and winter!

BTW; I had soup in NYC in 2006 at the place that inspired the Seinfeild soup Nazi ep. Was the seafood bisque and was awesome and yeah, there were rules...it was funny. I think The Soup Kitchen International has closed now but is reopening as something else.

Week before last I spent a couple of days in Edinburgh. Can't recall the name of the palce, but I had dinner from a chippy opposite the Playhouse theatre.... oh, momma. Haggis Supper - battered haggis with chips, salt and a soak..... 'salt and a soak' is an Edinburgh thing - the 'soak' is brown sauce, diluted with vinegar and liberally sprinkled on.... yum. Truly the (junk)food of the gods.... :)

I'm a baker too. kalamata olive & rosemary is one of my favorites, same base recipe for peppercorn parmesan and tomato garlic herb... honey lemon whole wheat, rum honey bread, sweet almond snails, and sour anything

one of my all time fave snacks though is apples with peanut butter

LizzieMaine, poutine is actually pretty good and your arteries will need that week to recover :D
