rough out (reverse suede) with the grain on the reverse side will last longer than the split suede where there are no grain layer on the reverse side.
I think if the price is the same, rough out is the better choice.
Rough out suede texture will be a bit rougher than the smoother split suede, but it is higher quality material imo.
With rough out it is also easy to do the unlined version because you have the smoother grain side on the inside, very good for warmer temps.
I have one from Johnson but the idea is the same,

I’m planning on ordering one of their Dubow A2s in goatskin and am looking for some input regarding sizing. I’ve already mailed FS about the fit and am waiting for a response, but a second opinion never hurts.

I’m looking for a classic, relaxed fit. Similar to how the originals fit. I wanna be able to wear a wool sweater underneath and still have some room. I’m a 41" chest (breathing in) with 17,5" shoulders. Just under 6 feet. Their sizing table shows I should order a 42. Will that give me the fit I’m looking for? I dont wanna go custom because I wanna stay true to the original pattern.

This is a good example for the kind of fit I’m looking for.

So far I would say that the viskey horsehide is a pretty nice leather.
The only drawbacks on my hide are multiple very small "cuts" or scrapes which would normally be removed by spot treatment when they make finished hides .
They are not too noticeable but I think Shawn should look into it .I have the same straps on my "old" steer hide jacket so I don't know if they appear while sewing or way back from the butcher shop View attachment 1000091889.jpg

Johnson Leathers would be the obvious choice if you're in the US. Even though it's more expensive but you're getting the absolute best quality as far as I know.
What’s the best way to get in touch with them? Their website almost seems like a work in progress, so I want to make sure I’m not being scammed with some random Shopify.
