This I respect more than a loud mouth braggart with nothing but his words to back him up, as seen above…Go through the process and report back. I am happy to observe this thread and the results it’s yields from the sidelines.
This reads like sour grapes from someone with a bone to grind.

I care little about 'respect' from you or anyone else, lol. I *do* care about little guys getting unfairly maligned by apparently people with more money than sense, lol.

Just saying...if you're gonna slam someone, slam the maker charging $2600 US for a jacket with "reprocessed" wool fill, lol.
(!Cough! Real McCoys !Cough!)
you realize this is true to the original jacket, right? The tag is a repro of the original tag! You’re out of your league here bud. I tried to tell you to stop as you’re embarrassing yourself. But it seems your lack of knowledge about vintage and reproduction pieces is endless.

& *Not* the small maker doing custom stuff for dirt cheap (& a quick turnaround from order to finished product).

Competition for the big makers benefits the consumer, always.

I shouldn't be feeding the trolls but Tony isn't one of the guys who soils his pants over a cheap-looking jacket like this just because it was made in Japan and costs as much as a used car. He'll call out cheap and expensive alike.

Five Star's pricing has been sale-price Schott/Vanson since 2022 anyway. It's not an order of magnitude cheaper as you're making it out to be.

You also know nothing about 5 Star. They are far from “little guys”. They punch out over 1500 jackets in a couple months or more. This is from Shawn’s mouth, so I believe it to be true. If you want to actually speak with some level of intelligence and credibility, for the love of God please, do your homework. You have literally been wrong at every single and possible point. It’s actually impressive and astonishing. I have no choice but to offer you this dubious award:

Uh..."1500 jackets in a couple months or more" is, like, 20-30 jackets per day or so. Let's say each employee can knock out 2 or 3 jacket per day (prolly more like 5, but whatever).
So that would be around 10 employees sewing jackets. And you call that "big"?

Lol...yeah, and *this* is "12 inches".

Again, you read like someone with a bone to pick. Didn't I read you ordered five jackets from 5*...and then sold them all because you were dissatisfied? (Because they were "wrong" presumably.)

How many of the 5 'bespoked' jackets you had 5* make for you did you get leather samples for 1st, and have a cloth version made first for fit check?

I would say likely none of them, lol. Hence the reason for your 5* bashing here, when the actual error is your fault.
5* simply produced what you told them to.

I don't think you're that familiar with Five Star. The actual company is called Fesho Wear; they're a high quality large scale leather good manufacturer in Pakistan. They will take contracts from various companies and manufacture jackets to spec. Since they receive patterns for this purpose, they don't have a real need to have pattern developers on staff.

Five Star is a side project for Facebook and forum goers in the West.

Okay, so Fesho Wear is a family-owned outfit run by 3 brothers making
"The lowest possible prices with best quality. We are one of the few companies capable of producing cheapest price with high quality leather wears. Primarily supplying to US and European markets. State of the art and modern manufacturing facility backed by latest machinery and highly skilled and trained individuals."

Still doesn't sound like a big company at all, by western standards.

There's a thing called the law of diminishing returns. That is...at what point does the goal of nitpicking for perfection impact the desired product end result price point?

You're not going to get OCD-level perfection from a $300-$500 US price point, fyi. That should be found in the $2600 "repurposed wool" level stuff, lol. Maybe.

You are a waste of time. I sold my jackets because I didn’t like them. They were inferior in build quality. They fit fine and were built to the level the company is capable. They can’t pattern. Period. You just keep puking out ignorance at such an incredible rate of speed it’s laughable.

You keep showing how little you actually know about this stuff. Keep going!

Won’t work. Doesn’t matter. Cloth and leather have nothing in common. 5 Star makes flat jackets, flat leather flat wool, flat cloth. You don’t know enough about construction to see it. You probably bought the ones I sold.

So your jackets "fit fine" but "they can't pattern"??? That makes no sense.
Either they can pattern & the jackets fit, or they can't pattern & they didn't fit. It can't be both, lol.

So you didn't get leather samples for any of your 5 jackets, nor did you have a cloth fit jacket made for any of your five 'bespoked' design projects. That figures. Lol.

Not surprising that it took you 5 tries before throwing in the towel on 5*. Slow learner, maybe?

I sold them all to clowns like you. It was my pleasure. Nobody on this forum would buy one. So I gave two away so people know what they can expect from the brand. As a public service.

I’ll have to admit I’m kinda enjoying watching this newbie’s dance with reality but what the Hell has happened to FL, where did it go?
I think @Carlos840 summed it up when he said recently ..
“I do miss TFL, but unfortunately i don't think the TFL i miss still exists.”
Mods to do better job of keeping these turds in the toilet. And flushing more often.

I know more about the South Asian garment industry than you do and have talked to these guys in their own language.

Can you?

I have had a request from a respected member to reopen this thread. I agree it has been closed long enough for everyone to cool down. So reopen it is.

My only question is whether I should merge the Is this Horse Hide from 5 *? thread with this one. It started out as a specific topic, but now has become more generic.

Please let me know your thoughts.

I think it's become generic in the sense of being about cow v horse differences in general so I think it might be okay to keep separate.
