Five Star Leather Jackets

Wore mine inside for a couple hours each day this weekend. Top coat is very quick to show what’s underneath in wear areas. The body of the jacket is not surprisingly slow to yield. I’ve cinched the belts really tight to help the process along. The collar may never lay flat.

Have yet to hear from Shawn about how the 4oz black is coming along. I’ll probably send another message at the end of the week.

I like how it starts to look but I wouldn't think of getting this unless skived. Since I'm not a fan of any belts or straps I would have to spec it tight enough to fit me nicely so for me, 1.4mm I think would be just enough

My next build will be somewhat similar to your black goat, much more form fitting through the body. I agree with your feelings on the thickness, but maybe a bit heavier for me personally at around 1.7mm. No Halfbelt this time.

I'm curious what you're going to come up with. I like this fit as I can wear the jacket with just a t-shirt or layer it a bit and still feels and looks great. Definitely not the right person to fight an armour like that but I do like a certain amount of thickness of the leather. I think 1.6-1.8 would be my maximum thickness if the leather is not too stiff. I'll wait patiently to see more projects, I'm very happy with this one and no rush for me right now.

I am thinking about asking Shawn for a custom tag. One that is true to the language where the jacket is built. No descriptor, just this script on a leather tag. I feel ignorant for not knowing which language he speaks or writes natively. I think this at the neck, with nothing else, would be cool:

You can't really ditch the caretake label .You at least need something that tells clearly the origin.I wanted to start selling clothing under my own label 2018 .You cannot import it to the EU without it. Even though you mostlikely don't get caught

No care tag in Vanson or Aero either. To me that instantly screams “cheap” and it’s totally unnecessary. The Only other tag should also be in Urdu and state the country of origin. I like this idea so much I’ll go ahead and do it myself on my next jacket.

Might not hurt to run the translation past Shawn or another native speaker/reader. Google translate is often a little off the mark.

The example given to us in German class revolved around the famous moving truck Ludwig Beethoven.

Sorry for the shorts.
Thank you Shawn! I’m super pleased with how this one turned out straight outta the box. Using a hybrid construction with soft goatskin, I went back to my tighter fit. And it works. Below is the same size jacket in 2.5 oz horsehide for comparison (I’m too lazy to photoshop a side by side sorry):

This dark brown leather is legit. It’s not like the tan one I had. The dark brown has actual pull up! The light pull up effect is the same as Aero batter seal and batter tan, more waxy, less oily than Chromexcel. But thickness and stiffness is unmatched by any leather I have. I will do in depth on this leather later this week. Thank you for reading.

That fits and looks great! It's nice that you could go for a tighter fit using the mix of two kinds of leather, looks much better in my opinion. Congrats!

Winner! That's awesome, love the clean front and mouton. This back design looks so clean, with the false half belt being placed lower and slightly thinner makes all the difference. Can't wait to see the next one

Thanks man! I saw your dark brown one and I had to give it a go but I was also sweating about how it will work. This dark brown leather is really thick but doesn’t feel heavy like a kettlebell. Very interesting.

I got the idea after seeing Tons jacket and JL mixed media truckers, and just got lucky it turned out as expected. This would work well to get the tighter fits on the black version if the SXL black is the same or similar to the dark brown. The black goat has a different grain so still a mixed grain look though.

Thanks man! I think the pattern is the result of team work from every member here that has ordered from Shawn, and it would keep getting better because of combining all the things that worked from everyone here. I ask for mouton collar with every 5 star jacket. It’s the same price so why not.

Looking good! Is the "SXL" the full 5oz variety?

I see they have upgraded their delivery to boxes. Maybe the leather would break the bags. LOL

Yeah it’s thick. Unless I take it apart there’s no actual way to measure it. But together with his black goat, it came out to about 3.6mm. Assuming the black goat is 1.2mm, this dark brown would be 2.4mm, that’s closer to 6 oz. If I had to guess, Shawn could have tried to copy this from HH’s 6oz Horween.

I don’t think this can fit into the parcel flyer bags, haha… But the strange thing this leather is very thick and somewhat stiff, but feels light.
I’m gonna dig into it this weekend and see what I can find out. But this dark brown is a lot better than the tan one for sure.
