I personally do not like the look of a shawl collar - to my eye they look weak and a little prim.

I used to think so too. I've never had a shawl collared jacket before but it looks cool to me now. It does work for a cossack jacket for some reason.

I like smaller leaner' shaper angle on the curve if shawl just like a normal mandarin collar folded down, I don't really like very wide very round like that himel shawl. and def not liking that lining on the lapel, I prefer seamless from collar to lapel perhaps the seam is down at where the 3rd button is so it won't shows, but if that's wasting too much leather then I rather have the seam vertically on the back of the neck and have the whole visible lapel down to the facing seamless, rather than seam on the collar base on a shawl collar, I think it defeats the idea.

I'm sure like in all things, it's just personal preference. I hope that when I finally get one that it will suit me well. Ill admit that it does look very proper indeed

I'm going to try again with this smaller standup shawl collar which looks cool judging by the photos. But sometimes things look cool on others but not so much on yourself. I'll know pretty soon, it will be delivered this week. Fingers crossed

There's a huge difference between the Himel / Thedi / BK shawl collar and this one. I like this smaller one much better.

I like them popped up more than folded down as shawl, I find it easier to stay popped up all day too maybe since the corner is connected to the body of the jacket, my own chin doesnt push it down like popped up shirt collar that always need to be re popped every so often.

I agree, that did not work well. The second Thedi looks better for a range of reasons. Possibly the mix of fabrics and textures too. Nice one.

I don't like it like that either, it does look good smaller and upright too. I'll stick with the second version, it's easier to spot all these things with examples.
