Do you know if any are drum dyed?

So far as I know, only the deerskin is drum dyed. @FIVESTAR LEATHER... can you say more about that?

I asked Shawn today and here is his reply:
"All FS leathers are Drum Dyed
Some in Matching Dies
And some in lighter shades
But Dyed in Drum"

Such a shearling vest is certainly not to everyone's taste. Not so long ago I was still of the opinion that sheepskin vests are old men things. maybe that's the way it is. lol.

It's really cool and your design and fit is perfect. Back in the 1970's younger men wore sheepskin vets - cowboys and bikers and urban hipsters. I had one back then (I was just a kid) it was a bit of a sloppy fit but I loved it. Your vest is that idea about done right.

thanks. I assumed it was just the Deerskin (and probably Buffalo) because Shawn explicitly mentioned it. And the goatskin all have a top coat

He gave me thicknesses too, but you probably already know this:

Steerhide 1.3-1.4
Buffalo Hide 1.3-1.4
Goatskin 1.2-1.3 mm

Can you actually feel the extra warmth of the fleece vest when worn above a leather jacket?

I have to test it longer, but I already have the impression that it is warming. But not immediately. first the leather has to get warm. So takes a little longer than when the fur is directly on the body. But I think it only works if the vest isn't too wide. Otherwise there will be too much cold between the fur and jacket.

Agreed, as a head Designer Ton should get HH!
But then they might know that if they give HH to him on a civilian jacket everyone on here will ask for the same thing, and they might not want HH to become their most demanded hide...

Well all of our Leathers are Drum Dyed, some are Dyed with Contrast dyes and some with Matching dyes like the Deerskin.
All of our Leathers Mostly are Semi Veg. Tanned and even Complete Veg. Tanned.

I asked, he said no, but I kinda expect you might get preferential treatment. He told me to ask again in a month.
Not sure about their HH however....if its not CXL then will it be any better than some of the other leather? However if he'd had said ok, I would have snagged it for my jacket.

My replacement A2 came in this week.
I just want to note:

1. The real wool knits on this one are very nice.
2. This is my 2nd 5* jacket with this "Reddish Goatskin" and, having handled several different leathers in the last few months, this leather always impresses me. Definitely recommend anyone looking at 5* to try it out. The color is just great.
