Ok, so almost ready to go for it, I am going for russet veg tan goat, it is apparently at about 1.2mm which sounds good. For the thread, I will go for beige as I want some contrast. And the zipper will be size 10 antique brass.

Last question: which liner is good? Is the cotton twill sturdy and functional?

Edit: made the whole post more readable lol

I have the "heavy" satin polyester in one jacket and the drill in the other....the drill is far better. The one I have incoming has quilted nylon...I can update on that one as well but I suspect the heavy cotton drill is the best one.

Just arrived, I love the leather, distressed buffalo. My first impression WOW View attachment 279886

Cool jacket and the back is beautiful.
Only the boxy shoulders are an issue on 5 * jackets. When ordering, it doesn't hurt to point this out. I once sent Shawn a link to the VLJ describing how to prevent those boxy shoulders. I will always send it again with every order.

But of course. One thing to note the arm hole at 9” would be far too tight. 10-11” is much better range.

I'm looking forward to seeing your russet veg tan goat. I have a modified moto jacket in black premium goat on the way and had Shawn put in a black rayon liner. Amazing the level of customization 5* is willing to do. I'm already thinking of a trucker style jacket next and am looking at a russet or distressed leather next.

many thanks, everyone. Yeah, I reached out late last night and already have a response. It's hard to tell from their photos of the leather (true color, texture, feel, etc.). I've seen some of the facebook photos of actual jackets with outdoor light and definitely agree the Seal seems to be the color. There were a couple of Bronco A-2s that looked really good especially with some break in.

I guess I'm leaning towards the premium goat seal brown. Probably pick up the Cafe Racer or maybe just the Bronco A2 since that seems to be their specialty.

Oh he also noted on the email he sent me he as veg tanned goat. Not sure if that's the premium as well or a different line. Wondering if the feel/color on those are richer. I'll ask more questions.

I'm waiting for the delivery of the 5* Bronco A2 in seal brown
Will keep you updated if you're interested in

I think the jacket looks great. The shoulders look boxy from the back, but won't they relax over time as the jacket breaks in? MrProper - can you send the link to the VLJ description. Thanks

The buttons are great! The pockets not yet...Depending on how long you're going:

...not that I've given this style much thought

Damn!! I'm grabbing some of these for my FILE!!!!!!!! That first one is killer!!!! I just wonder about Shawn doing buttons vs. a Zipper....... I keep reading somewhat mixed reviews on the Buttons and Button Hole stitching etc.

So the collar of the Little Wing, that's a repro by Freewheelers and my jacket :)

I would have to trust Shawn with the shape as I don't see how I can convey more than the image

Shawn is all about “trust” and “honor”
