Man, if they can produce a jacket based on the photos/specs you sent that isn't part of their catalogue, that opens a whole world of possibilities. I'm also rooting for you and hope they nail it (or get close enough to retain the value proposition).

All my 5* jackets based on photos ;-) So he can. I think about some shearling jackets

love those examples. Keep us posted. In the meantime I am ordering your Amelia Earhart inspired jacket. The only change I made was to have contrast stitching with olive thread and obviously some dimension stuff to fit my body. And I will order in Premium Steerhide. I'll post product shot in a couple weeks when I receive, but never can look as good as you in it :D
Last question, I noticed your neck size measurement for the jacket. I compared to my typical jacket and it is noticeably smaller, maybe like 2 or 3 inches. Most of my jackets seem to have 20 inch circumference on inside, basically around the base of the collar. My usual dress shirt size is 16. So I reduced to 18 inch for tighter fit. But I'm worried might be too tight. I don't plan to wear jacket fully zipped up anyway.

too kindly ;).
I have a neck size of 15.75" for button down shirts. So I thought to myself that just under 18" should be enough. Fits me perfectly.
Finger crossed for your jacket.

love that Shawn send the measurement pics before mailing the jacket to avoid any potential issues

Lol, why didn't you say you liked that jacket so much, would've send it to you. :D

:D
My strange dimensions prevent standard sizes. And yes, I like it very much :)

I took Mr. Propers advice and bombarded Shawn with photos. Fit photos and actual measurement photos. I’m excited to see what he can do. If it doesn’t work out...it’s a fun adventure either way. Basing the rrl knock off on this fit:

It seems that we are almost the same size. I only add a few inches in length. :D

It looks like Five Star's catalog is expanding rapidly.

It ain’t Horween or Shinki, but there is no reason to think the stitching will unravel. I doubt these will end up being anyone’s go to jacket if you have nice vintage or repros in the closet. For me it is just a fun distraction.
I second that notion. I also think it’s cool to be able to throw an oddball pattern at a maker who is willing to give it a go and see what will stick. From what I’ve seen they look far better than the taobao /Cidu jackets. I’ll certainly post my thoughts upon arrival.

Yeah, I'm not going body surfing in my Five Star jacket.
