Even then you will see a difference between the top layer and the inner layer.
If you take a bit of sandpaper and rub the top of that sample it will still show as a lighter patch.
True, but if you rub that lighter patch with your finger, it's gone.

when I ordered my 5 Star months back, I did ask Shawn about leather odor as I had seen some posts about it. He said it had to do with the way the particular leathers he was using where processed and that that problem has been taken care of. His suppliers either don't use that process anymore or he is using different suppliers.

Too thin, isn’t it?
I know they are much thinner than cow or horse hide...in a general sense. Might be able to find a big beast of a buck with thicker skin to source. But I can’t comment on exact measurements. So I don’t know if this is average or not, might be even thinner than normal deer hide, might be average. But yeah deer tends to be thinner.
