The original had a Cal Leather Sam Browne Belt but they could not replicate that with out buying expensive machinery I was told

The CHP replica looks great. If I didn't already have one that ticks all the boxes for me I'd consider it. Do they still have the 1.2mm HH as advertised? Wonder if delete badge bolder, belt loops, handwarmer zippers could be accommodated to turn it into an aviator-esque CHP...

Maybe the design elements of the kidney panel, side laces and waistband stitching would make it look like a weird Frankenjacket.

It strikes me that the Cal in this thread would be a great visual reference for you if you want Five Star to add a chest pocket, since the placement in relation to the snaps would ensure that you don't get one of those absurdly high Five Star chest pockets.

Thanks for pointing that out! I'm actually wanting a crosszip halfbelt with a D pocket. I'm trying to get the )( shape that my Aero Hooch Hauler doesn't have (and also trying to get away from the neck pain it causes). I liked the D pocket @58panheadfan got, and they have it in a HB model too though it seems a bit Franken.

Anyone have any thoughts about taking a V pattern and just slapping a halfbelt on it?

I’d recommend getting the Cal for the superior pattern then getting a D pocket on it (assuming the size of their D pocket is good).

I recommend not changing the pattern whatsoever just plug in you measurements

Just the standard steerhide in comes with. This was there standard 40 with just some shortened sleeves for me (I’m short haha)

Here is another good reference that can be used for adding a chest pocket to the Cal, although this one doesn't have the collar snaps.

But if you want a D-pocket for a Cal, the best reference may be modern Cal's jacket using an old Star Glove pattern, pocket shape, and placement is just perfection:
