Interesting. How soft would be the key factor.
Why have you chosen to go with snaps? Is the hide too stiff for buttons or you just prefer snaps?Buffalo trucker I've ordered... just waiting on delivery now. Only about a week from order to shipping with custom measurements as well. Not a bad service at all! Very excited to get it... View attachment 421190 View attachment 421191
Both really. I find buttons on leather always pretty annoying and difficult to close. Snaps for ease of use. I cant say I have a preference for either in terms of look. Why have you chosen to go with snaps? Is the hide too stiff for buttons or you just prefer snaps?
Ask for a pic of the underside of the football button!I received a request from Shawn for which decorative cuff button I’d like on my Halfbelt. Have to be getting close now.

I’ve always loved this detail on vintage jackets.

Can I ask how tall you are? Also, where do you get your ball and loop chain? Is it easy to transplant? ThanksDone!

Took some chances with the measurements, hopefully they work out ok. I like the clean back.
And Deez:

I’ve got my looped ball and chain chest zip ready to install upon arrival!
I'm 5'11. Ball and chain came from Amazon, the swap takes about 2 minutes to do, the parts I use are for replacing ceiling fan pull chains and loop connectors. Less than a dollars worth of hardware. Can I ask how tall you are? Also, where do you get your ball and loop chain? Is it easy to transplant? Thanks
Yeah!! Looks pretty gnarly! Especially the lower back panel. That horse took a beating! That raw texture is fantastic! I was thinking just today I'd get something in it if anyone offered it and here it is by 5star. It's totally like this, except it doesn't cost $6K.
Yeah, easily in fact although I’m not sure if so it for a mere 1”. I had 4” trimmed off a vintage Monarch and it turned out great. 1” almost too small to matter.I'm thinking of having this 5* half belt shortened by ~1". Could a decent seamstress accomplish this without ruining it? The zipper would not need replacing because it starts an inch up. View attachment 422025
Do you think the jacket in the photo is too long? It's 26" and I'm 5'11" with a somewhat short torso and long legs.Yeah, easily in fact although I’m not sure if so it for a mere 1”. I had 4” trimmed off a vintage Monarch and it turned out great. 1” almost too small to matter.
I’m not anywhere as knowledgeable as the gathered crew but at just a tad shorter than you I would want something more along the lines of 23-24”. Might not be appropriate for this style of jacket but that’s just me - I really think it’s down to personal preference.Do you think the jacket in the photo is too long? No it doesn’t look too long to me at all. With halfbelts or straight zip jackets in general, length becomes less relevant, at least imo. There’s not enough design elements to make it look out of proportion. If it’s a little longer, it’s simply a long Halfbelt.Do you think the jacket in the photo is too long? I‘m just hoping you’ve cropped a friend or partner out of the picture. Otherwise I regret to inform you that the length is the least of your problems as the jacket is clearly haunted.I'm thinking of having this 5* half belt shortened by ~1".
