Five Star Leather Jackets

For your first 5 star, a fit jacket is worth almost as much as the actual thing!
Lol considering I payed 30$ for a design I could send on Fiverr. (100% not worth it) I'm thinking if ⅓ the price for a fitment because design is a bit weird. I took 30s car coat. Added bi-swing to the back and 2 button on each side for 3 of my most wanted features from 3 different jackets lol.

The front minus top pocket

The back bi-swing from here (in only upper arms)
http://y-2leather.com/product/ls-15-black/

And 2 button back from a Aero teamster I saw on here but can't find the post right now that looks like photo below. And ordered more than $500 worth of shinki but I'm thinking going to hold on for now and see how it works out

To be honest...I'm afraid it might be a little confusing and there's room for interpretation. And you know Shawn rarely questions.
E.g. how high should the pockets be? What angle are they supposed to be? From where exactly are the 18.5 measured from the top to the side adjusters? Right from where you drew it or from the shoulder seam? Or from the collar seam? I would probably give the distance from the waistband to the top.
13.5 Distance between side adjusters... button to button? Seam to seam?
Should the width of the gusset be the same at each point, or is it a little less at the top?
What about the collar?
Center seam at the back as in the photo or no seam as in the drawing?
Sleeves as in the drawing or still as in the photo?
You may have a detailed textual description anyway though.
Then just forget my comment :)

It is a learning course with 5 star but don't leash out on Shawn if you did the wrong math or did a massive oversight .Shawn is committed to make you happy even if he breaks even with the cost and remakes your jacket . We are not professional pattern designers and sometimes we can be bad at math and mess up adding 1 inch pit to pit is 2inches all around (like I did on my Cossack).

If you need help maybe go on fiverr and pay a pattern desingner 15$ to help you out .

The leathers are always improving and maybe we should break them in a bit before making any assumptions. We may feel screwed over if it doesn't fit as "imagined" but they don't try to screw you over and always listen to suggestions .

Yup I understand that and that's why I ordered fitment jacket. Was debating it but I'm like would rather get a fitment jacket and be able to send any adjustments that I might need to get something that actually suits me hopefully.

Also thanks for the feedback. I will be redoing the PDF with more detail specifications once the fitment jacket comes in.

I also paid for a Fiverr designer to design a jacket for me. But I fucked up because should have looked harder because after I made my order I saw another person also doing design with dementions and sizing for less than what I paid for the design.[/QUOTE]

Anyone order a fitment jacket before getting their leather jacket. It's an extra 100$ so I'm thinking 450 for a perfect fitting(hopefully) jacket vs 350 for something that might not be as good because of measurements
What! We can order fit jacket now?! Just read you are gonna send
Really curious to see how they deal with that order, that's a really hard pattern to get right, it has so many little details everywhere...
The (Real) Leathertog version would be impossible to get it right, without an actual Leathertog to copy from.
I am assuming Shawn will just use his standard cross zip pattern as a base and make the lapels wider, like the Buco J31. The real Leathertog looks like it has a very three dimensional torso, where as the Buco J31 is two dimensional like everyone else. I don't have an actual Leathertog, just observation from photos here. I think you know this first hand (3D feeling) from your leathertogs. This 5Star is not that, for $350 I am shooting for Buco fit at best. Lol!

If my guesses are correct, your Leathertogs fits like the way your Lewis Mk2 fits in the torso. At least that's how I imagine it to fit. Correct me if I am wrong!

It's something that I saw other higher end markers do so I sent him a message and got this response.

"
Normally cost of our Custom jackets with pattern development and delivery charges is 350$ and after if you need a Cotton Twill samples test jacket first its cost with shipping will be 100$ extra.

BeBest Regards

@Webafile Can't wait to see your jacket. I also caved to my impulse and ordered a jacket in the new black SXL.

Good luck with this. I'm curious and excited to see how it turns out. I posted here about trying to make a jacket in this style and was warned off by a couple people - quite warranted, given that I've not had a single jacket made by Shawn, but I think it might be worth an effort by someone who has a better idea of the process.

Hi all. Is there anyone who has collated all of the various iterations of the available leathers from 5*? Would you be willing to make a post with what you've got?
I know somewhere in this megathread are pics and maybe thickness measurements of the newest CHL leathers. I know there have been some mixed reviews on the cream color CHL and there has been some discussion about a new black CHL.
On the 5* website, there are now seven different goatskin leathers listed.
Not sure how the newer colors would REALLY look, real world. I really like what I've seen in the way of natural and tumbled brown from Aero and also the brown/natural/aged from Thedi. Trying to figure out if any of the 5* hides might come close in color to that. Thanks for any thoughts/constructive ideas.
