While I suspect the true answer may be 37, which size is better for this lighting:

36

Or 38?

Excuse the outfit, I wasn’t expecting to try on jackets that day!
Don't force it. Someone out there is making the in-between size of this jacket. Keep looking.

Both sizes looks ok to me, but if you know you're looking for the in between size version, then find the in between size version.

Parkas have arrived and here is the bomber jacket with a heavy sweater. I think all of these fit great! I think I’m set with jackets finally!!

Question about fit size with Schott 594

I got this jacket over the holidays, and I made the mistake of getting a jacket while getting in shape. When I bought the large, I was about 15 lbs heavier and I’m beginning to think I should’ve got a medium. The first jacket is the Schott 594 and the second is an Aero Jacket in 42. However I do think these bombers styles are built to be baggier for layering?

Hi,

My name's Corbin; I've been a non-member on TFL for many years seeking advice from past threads. Everything from fit to style, I've learned so much from so many members here, so thank you!

I'm a project manager in industrial construction (also some residential). I ride motorcycles, work on cars and fabricate parts and try to exercise some creativity when I can.

Here's a few pictures of my Vanson model B, size 42. I purchased this directly from Vanson in 2021 for my birthday. I have since grown a bit and now it is quite snug. I'm thinking I need to go up a size, possibly a 46. I may trade it if one comes up, but I guess I just want to make sure I get one the right size. What do you all think?

Thanks for any input you guys may have!

I think size 44 will suit you well. But if you get better in the future, history may repeat itself.

I just got this Flat Head Double Rider and I'm torn on whether the shoulders are too broad for my body. Thoughts?

Looks to me like it fits as designed.

Shoulders look great.

I think people on TFL need a reminder that, while shoulders can never be narrower than your shoulders, extended shoulders are an established part of both leather jacket making and tailoring.

I think tbh there's a tendency to overthink the fit, even over-fit it. IMO, that's never going to have the same results as the way these jackets looked when picked up OTR back in the day, and it's really just looking for trouble with often unrealistic expectations. That said, given what it now costs to buy a jacket made in the US/UK/EU/Japan by one of our preferred brands round these parts, it's no surprise we can obsess a bit over details.

That said, the one in the photo fits exactly the way they should. Brando in The Wild One wore 'em like they were meant to be back in the 40s / early 50s - tight over the waist, room on the chest.

Frankly if I ever managed to look half as good as Brando did in a cross zip, I'd be cockahoop.

Aero PHWM fit check
Pics first!

Hello everyone, second time poster here(newbie here).
Recently purchased a jacket from a gentleman @AerGuitar.
Thanks Mark! A true legend!

I’m very happy with how the leather looks and smells, pleasantly surprised that I could still smell the leather after 3 years of it being made, the condition of this jacket is also insane.
Of course that badalassi squeak everyone talks about, I love all of that.

Comfort wise, it’s as comfortable as it can be for a leather jacket. No complaint here.

My only concern is the extra fabric at the back, would be grateful if I can get some input from the legends on this forum.

I also have another jacket I purchased 2 months ago for reference. That jacket is slightly roomier but it doesn’t have that back thing I mentioned.

You can see that in many PHWMs. If the back is even slightly too long and tight at the same time, then it sits up and bunches up. I think a PHWM should be worn rather short, like a trucker jacket, for example. Have you tightened the side adjusters? If so, try loosening them and see if the jacket then falls differently.
In the other photos you can see a bulge at the back of both jackets. It is more pronounced on the PHWM than on the other.
I would wait and see if it disappears once it has been broken in. If not, you can always go to a leather cutter.

I think it's not a problem. Overall, the jacket fits very well.

I agree, I think it looks like a good fit! You may try to loosen the buckles like Mr Proper suggested, to see if that helps any.
