The tolerance is +/- 0.5 inch. So if it's almost an inch less, I would have it redone.
And the hem can stay as it is. Why should it be more just because 1 inch is added?
It is really short already. Since you are already having doubts, you will also have doubts in the future. I know that ;-)

1. Incredible looking jacket!
2. Fits you very well, but I'd definitely add more body length and maybe a bit more sleeve length (mine got noticeably shorter with wear).
3. For sure add hem width if you ask for a longer body. Wish mine was a bit wider as well.

Definitely it is too short! If I make it longer, and it hits the curve of my butt, I'm worried that will make the hem too tight. Should a half-belt hit at the bottom of the pants belt, or lower?

If it were my jacket, I would add 0.5 inch to the overall length plus a front drop of 0.5 - 0.75 inch. Or just a front drop of a good inch.

Ah, I did not know Aero could add a front drop - 0.5" in the back plus 0.75" in front would bring the front down 1.25" - that would cover the belt nicely - thank you!

@TartuWolf - if you don't mind my asking, the fit on your HH looks amazing - what makes you wish for a wider hem?

Well at some point I realized that what you are wearing really influences how much bottom hem width do you need.
No belt + t-shirt -> no belt + shirt + sweater -> ... -> thick belt with thick buckle + thicker shirt + thicker vest + sweater = VERY TIGHT.

Thurston Bros will get Aero to make you a new jacket since it is not within the. 5" tolerance. You will just have to wait another 12 weeks for it. Mine showed up with a 16" bottom opening instead of 18".
The new jacket is perfect at 18". Now I can wear any pants, belt, or top without bursting at the seams. It is a very comfortable relaxed fit, rather than a leather corset fit.

Also interested in seeing unzipped fit pic, and would you wear it mostly zipped or unzipped? How about layers or riding? Those things would affect how I’d want it to fit.

Like others said, consider adding more front drop. The one thing it has going for it is that it’s not a belted jacket and you won’t have 2 belts visible.

Other than that, and hopefully you don’t take this the wrong way, I’d suggest not wearing it with a turtle neck. It makes it look like your head might periscope out to scan the surroundings.

The turtleneck is a great idea. It keeps bees and other pestiferous insects from creating mischief inside your shirt while riding. A June bug or Cacadia bug to the neck is no fun on a bike.
Meant it more from an aesthetic sense.

Turtleneck would have functional value though - whether it’s keeping bugs out or going for a cold ride.

If you're just adding overall length then probably not because the back may be too long that the jacket will start to bulge upwards. If Aero do build you a new Hooch Hauler with 1.5" front drop please post some pics. I think what you got now is the best the stock pattern can do, until a custom one with front drop happens.

And a wasp or a hornet is even worse. And, yes, I had a wasp try to get down my shirt on a group ride once. We were going through some curves, and I was in the middle of the pack. Not much I could do. Didn't get stung and survived to ride another day. I think the wasp was more concerned than I was.

I’m very interested in the idea of adding a front drop independent of the back length - has anyone gotten Aero to do this before?
