I was thinking RoughWear myself. I don't have any experience with Monarchs in person. Something about those front pockets made me think RoughWear even though they aren't those rounded edged ones that you have on one of your RWs. Part of it is the graining but for some reason the look made me think RW first. I have never seen a back like this before. Don't RoughWears have French seams also??

Really cool jacket whatever it is. The early Windwards are rare and special.
Yes, Roughwear has similar seams. They had a patent for this dual entry pocket, but have a different look, as you mentioned. Top grain tag makes me think Roughwear. I can confirm Roughwear made jackets for Wards, I can't for Monarch. The back design is not familiar, though Roughwear did have fancy backs.

Hall American (Robert Hall) CZ----- Haven't seen one in person but these always look to be a cut above to me for some reason. True Vintage (stated 22" back length--Yikes!!). Crown Sleeve zips......... Corduroy trimmed lining........ Reminds me of a Hercules in some ways..... BIN at $395

This thing is literally wider than longer. 22" back length on a 46 size jacket is asking for a lot. But that is how they were cut in those days.
