1940-50s cross zip, black teacore, all Talon zips beautiful. Little bit longer than the usual ones which is just awesome for me. Needed some reinforcement/restitching in key areas. I guess with the old pure cotton thread, it was starting to pop here and there after all those years. There's a couple hairline cracks and tiny bit of flakiness on one of the sleeves. Gwen's dad owns the upholstery shop next to the Cal storefront. He gave me a pointer on conditioning the jacket that I'm going to try tomorrow that I think might do the trick. Probably won't help deep cracks, but should help what I got going on. In any case, it's real vintage. Jacket was worn a lot, so comes with the territory. I'll post some pics tomorrow if the sun comes out.
Gwen is really amazing with restoring the leather on vintage Cals. She brought my Cafe Racer back to life. She has a restoration technique, if I remember correctly, where she saturates the leather in some kind of leather restorer and then stores the jacket in a black bag in the heat for a while. It helps the jacket soak up the oils. You might ask her about it.

Yep, exactly this. That's what her dad told me. Skidmore leather cream + black hefty bag + couple days in sun. He's been in upholstery biz for decades, does car seats, etc. So knows what he's talking about.

Aaaand purchased! :D
Green is my favorite color, and this should fit me.
Thanks for the heads up guys.

I sold my Schott two minutes ago and just came back to this thread to find the link and use the money for the Schott to purchase that green Brooks. Your post is the first that I see. Congrats buddy! Looking forward to seeing fit pics when you get it.

Congrats @handymike TBH I was also considering it as it's exactly my size and this seller rarely has jackets in my size and I'm sure the green looks amazing - on the other hand I already have green leather jackets and now it's your turn! I hope you like it! Please post fit pics once it arrives!

That's what happens when you sleep on it :) Congrats! I'm curious how it fits you :)
@Riu Don't worry too much about it. This happened to me and most of us many times. On the other hand there are so many other leather jackets even if the racing green one is very rare which was the reason why I also was considering it but I'm sure it has a nice new owner @handymike now!

I'm happy @handymike, I'll get to see how it fits.
I had my hesitations regards to the length first. I almost bought it last night then I had a better look at the back and I wasn't convinced. Probably I overthink it sometimes :D

missed a lot of the action today. I used to be really impatient with this kind of stuff, get frustrated, feed the fire, etc. etc. Then my younger son was born and ended up being on the autism spectrum. He's thankfully very high functioning but has his quirks. Made me realize there's just different kinds of people out there that interact differently. For sure, there's some people out there that mean harm, or wish to troll, or just are A holes. But there's also just as many that socially don't fit the norm. Not sure where Gman fits in all that, but for me, he wasn't a nuisance, even though it didn't take long to tire of the same pics, weather reports LOL, etc. I think he was just in auto pilot mode and in his eyes, some way contributing. I was definitely jealous of some of those beach shots though and hope I could be as active as some of those guys in their 70s and 80s :D:D:D

can't say I read every post or followed along with some of the more hot topic ones in question, but I do trust the mods to make that call. If they feel like it or several crossed the line, then so be it. I will echo though that the treatment should be equally weighted if we're getting to that level. I don't know the details of some of the other allegations, so can't comment, but again trust those would be handled in the same way. Hoping a warning was issued to be fair, unless of course it was just something too egregious.

anyway, my .02 and last comments on it. Lets get back to the finds and deals. Picked up my latest Cal today from the Cal shop after some much needed love. Post some pics tomorrow. Wow, just wow is all I'll say.
Love to see the Cal and hear its' story
