What do you guys think about this one? Not sure if it's crappy photography, but the leather doesn't seem as luxurious for the much acclaimed older Vanson stuff. Seems kind of plastic. Need to fix the drooping liner in the back too. Waiting to see if they drop the price more, but may give it a shot if it comes down another $100 or so. Or might just buy the brown Cal in the classifieds. I basically got room for 1 more jacket in the collection and it needs to be brown LOL.

One of 9 reviews is bad - seller cancelled an auction/sale for rubber gloves because price was lower than he'd hoped.

I've emailed for measurements.

Update:

Hey!

Length from armpit to armpit is about 20 in or 50 cm.
Length from collar to bottom of jacket is about 25.5 in or almost 65 cm.
Each sleeve measures around 24 in or 61 cm.
Shoulder length is about 18.5 in or 47 cm.

Thank you!

This is a very early Vanson and long before they began using the good stuff. Nice style but overall, I wouldn't grade it over any Schott.

Vanson's best leather is getting more and more scarce but I mean, you can easily tell why it's so acclaimed. Imagine someone landing a jacket made of this kind of hide and then selling it. Boy, it'd take some imbecile to do that, now, wouldn't it.

Just landed an Enfield with ID number 50k. Trying to do some homework to see where it lands in the leather spectrum LOL but leather feels and looks good at first touch. Kind of gooey, lots of depth, seeing some smaller sized pebbles and good creases on the sleeves (similar to Schott 100 type leather). Just hit it with some vaseline and it's drying in the sun. I think it might be late 90's early 2000 kind of thing. I'll take some photos later on today or tomorrow.

Got my eye on a couple with talon zips that look interesting as well. That Japanese site is dangerous. If they dont get too expensive on bidding might take a stab and then just keep the one I like the best. At least I confirmed I'm a size 40. Fits just about perfectly.

Ok, eye on the Cal. I also got something maybe coming that got lost in the mail that might just do it for me. Giving it another couple days otherwise on the hunt for a nice brown racer or cross zip. Thurston Bros has got one of those old school Schott Racers but in brown. Tempted on that one too worst case.

A huge one? Monitor, that is Vanson’s pinnacle leather. Don’t mean to rub it in, but that is unbeatable. Matched? By some, but not beaten. Mine has is on its way to that.

I'll blame Stu for this, too. I think I was getting that first LW at the time and figured I'd sell this Vanson to minimize the financial loss. Or something like that... But yeah, selling this one was a mistake of unseen proportions. I've never handled such leather before or since.
