Given the starting price of the auction, I would say it is perfect for a true collector. I’m thinking about it just to have one exactly reproduced in my size.
What is throwing me is the Talon Zip. My early Horsehide Langlitz has a Coat and Clark Zip. Most of the green labeled Langlitzs I seen had spring loaded Crown zips

Yeah, I noticed that. Not what I’ve have normally seen on these old Langlitz either, but I’m pretty sure this particular green label as well as the Talon are 50s era.

That was Ross's third green tag 1950 -1956 I would think the earlier Speedway Tog tags are more valuable to collectors certainly to myself

Yes, to me also. Plus, I think it is a much cooler tag.

Those dates perfectly coincide with a Langlitz telling me my early white label jacket was probably late 50s. Thanks.

I used to own an identical copy of this Banana Republic Jacket. For a Mall - sourced jacket the leather is suprisingly nice and the lining is cotton. Has some elements of a highwayman to it. I didn't pay this much when i bought mine at 50% off in 2007 however.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but on the subject of Banana Republic jackets, I completely agree. Here's mine, from 2010.

The leather is supple and has some really nice color variation in it, and the construction isn't bad. The cotton lining is really comfortable and the polyester sleeve lining makes it easy to slip on and off. Plus, it makes me look kind of dashing.

And I seem to recall banging on about this before, so I'll keep this short, but on a related note, I'm a big fan of older GAP leathers. I have four of their leather truckers all made in 1999–2000 (plus a suede version). All were a medium brown like my BR, but, inspired by @jonesy86 in another thread (but don't hold him responsible), I dyed three of them (black, cordovan, and green). Here's the black one.

You can't tell from the photos but it actually has a teacore look. (GAP did make a black version with contrast stitching that looked nice, but the armholes were ridiculously big and the sleeves obnoxiously wide, so you might want to avoid those unless you're a bodybuilder or have a time machine that lets you off in the '90s.) I got mine last year when they were commonly appearing for under $50 US, at which price they were a steal, but now you rarely see them for under a hundred, at which price...well, you could do worse, actually, but you could probably do better, so...) Still keeping an eye open for one more to dye navy blue.

So back to this thread...older BR and GAP leather jackets are surprisingly nice if you see one at a decent price, so keep a look out. "Mall jackets" with an asterisk.

I have a saved eBay search "leather trucker jacket" among others and would you believe me that each time I actually stop to click on a jacket because it looks good, it turns out to be GAP. They not only got the look right but to me, the leather looks fantastic! I'll go as far as to say that it doesn't look any worse than Fine Creek $2500 trucker.

Groovy AMF Suede jacket & pants. $180 @Monitor

the jacket alone is cool AF.

Nothing suede for me, like, ever. XD But it does look sweet. If it was leather, I'd be in trouble. But I just can't wear suede.
