I would have hit BIN if the sizing had been more in line w a true 40

Beautiful jacket
sheene sizing is confusing to say the least. I am a true 40, & I ended up buying a Natural CXL Sheene from TB at full price in size 38 some time back, given that the measurements were closer to what I wear in my 40 jackets. It came out to be quite tight, and I think I would have been better off going one size up even though the 40’s measurements sounded more like L
So, I think it fits true to size, even though measurements make it look bigger

Good point. Especially in FQHH I could see the fit being tight if it was more “true to size”

Do Thurston Brothers have an actual storefront somewhere in the Pacific Northwest where jackets could be tried on without all the mailing back & forth? All I can find on their website is a phone number & "office hours," but no address.

Its gone...did you end up getting it @technovox ?
Yep. I pulled the trigger on this one. I found it described with better photos here on Thurston Bros. site and I couldn't resist. I've already had several Sheenes, both in size 42 & in size 40... and the size 40 hits that sweet spot for me. (Just picked up a new Aero Ridley in the Blackened brown Vic too. Sigh. Lord help me stop this jacket buying madness!!!!)

Thurston Bros used to have a store front, but it was destroyed in a fire a few years back. Not sure what their storefront status is now...I think they have a fitting room where they can meet customers...at least that was my understanding, but this was pre-covid.

Thats a good find, congratulations. If by any chance you don't like it, I would be happy to take it off your hands although I am sure you will love it, natural cxl is beautiful

Reading the description again it would DEFINITELY have been too long for me. So it goes.

congrats @technovox

I always take into consideration the method by which Aero & Thurston Bros. use to measure their jackets. From my understanding, they stretch out the leather to max tightness and then measure. Consequently, I've learned the hard way to always add an inch to the jacket length and the sleeve length when ordering. And conversely I subtract an inch when looking at their posted measurements...
Just my personal experience and observation over the years...and an expensive lesson.

have had similar experience with Aero & TB, but not with Schott’s CXL jackets. I have found TB’s chest & back length measurements to be on the conservative side(As @technovox said, need to stretch the panels & measure)

Regarding sleeves, I checked with Carrie, & they measure the length along the curve, so straight up measurement ends up 0.75-1 inch shorter. While Holly mentioned measuring the sleeves straight down, except for Board Racer

Hi everyone, this is more of a question and not really a find (although I did find it and it could be a deal), but does anyone know what jacket manufacturer this is? I'm thinking it could be a Cal leather by the back, but my vintage leather knowledge is really limited. The seller has been incredibly slow to respond and isn't really taking the time to give good pictures, but they did mention they cannot find any tags inside the jacket indicating the brand. If this is better suited for another thread, please let me know. Thanks!

Aero Sheenes confuse me. For years I have seen them worn as long jackets and as hip length half-belts. Is there a way there are meant to fit?
yeah, it technically remains a CR, & CRs are supposed to fit snug with a taper, while collared jackets in heavy leather are usually a bit relaxed. I guess there lies the contradiction
