So why don't we see any of these here at TFL? I searched but I can't find a proper thread.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a sucker for those original cloth linings and always admired that label. If I happened on that jacket with a $500 BIN I would probably buy it. But $500 is a long way from $1350 so I won't make an offer.

Hey Terry, I know it may seem uncouth and "low ball" to lob a $500 offer on a $1350 item but this is the wild west. To me, its worth it to lob that offer. You can let the Seller know you are waiting in the wings with that offer if it is rejected. I have bought a few jackets where I made what I felt was a fair offer---what I was willing to pay anyway---and the Seller basically laughed it off and did not accept. They'd say they want to see if they get any bids or that they have TONS OF WATCHERS etc. But I explained, that WATCHERS are not necessarily BUYERS and that my offer stood if they wanted to get back with me in the future.

Ends up, people start to get REAL after awhile. If they are really looking to sell something for cash, they can't always get what they are asking. That's the free market system. YOU are part of that system. You are free to make the offer so I say go ahead and throw it out there. It can't hurt. You may be the only serious buyer they get and they may bite on your offer. You never know someone else's position.

AND to me, from what I have seen, $500 would be a fair offer. It would be a cool one for you to have in your collection IMO.

I was wondering about that last week. Why don't I see varsity jackets at TFL. It's outerwear, it's leather. I think they're cool.

Coolest "Varsity" jacket I have ever seen. Not the high school jock jacket though. Too small for me but I think it's cool. This seller has a few 2 tone jackets that are cool in smaller sizes. This one is in fairly rough shape but if I ever find one of these intact in my size, I'd be interested.

Could be a steal. Offers accepted. These are killer jackets and dare I say, somewhat underrated. This is a newer model in what looks to be in decent condition with some arm patina (teacore??). Size 40......

This was my first good jacket. Mine was a 42 and it was the heaviest leather jacket I've ever seen or held. Should've quit collecting jackets there and then. Wouldn't have missed much, anyway...

I can't figure Walter Dyer out. I've seen really simple, useful, sturdy, great-looking jackets like this one, and I've seen some of the chintziest multi-piece mall-quality (or worse) jackets, too. Seems like the more recent jackets I've seen have been of better quality than the older ones. What's the story with Walter Dyer?

Yep. I've only had one Dyer, but the leather on it seemed plasticky and cheap. But I've seen other Dyer jackets come up that seemed to have better quality- just didn't want to take a chance on them.
