The G-1 I'm currently wearing is made in Pakistan and fit is better than on many jackets five to 8 times its price made in the EU. Really makes me want to try out more Eastern/Asian budget brands.

I was just today feeling sad for selling my Pakistani cross zip which was an awesome jacket... And it was fading exactly like Fine Creek. I knew I made a mistake when the dude who bought it sent me

Just coming here to post that Brent. I had not seen this label with Windward on the Brent label. This when the were doing the transition. Makes it a more interesting jacket on top of being a completely cool collar. Has low BIN and offer. Too small for me.

Agreed for the most part, but there's definitely something wrong with not disclosing that or trying to fake stuff. The one jacket I bought from her was fake.

I was trying to say China makes good expensive products and bad cheap products alike (and of course, also good cheap ones), there’s no need to use the word ‘stuff MiChina’ here, since it doesn’t represent anything, neither quality nor price.

As Terry points out, this is an odd label for the Windward/Brent/MontgomeryWard jacket. I have never seen this label either. I have this same jacket (I need to list it) but it only has a red and black Brent label indicating its a little later production than this one. The label on this jacket with the Brent and Windward both present is unique in that it represents a MISSING LINK in the evolution of the branding of Montgomery Ward's leather jackets. Until now, it has been tacitly understood that Montgomery Ward first marketed their jackets as Windward, then later as Brent and a bit later you start to see them use their own name Montgomery Ward.

Those of us who are vintage fans and collectors of "20th Century American Department Store Leather Jackets" (Sears, Pennys, Montgomery Ward, Marshall Fields etc.) know the perceived evolution of the stores' brands but there is never definitive provenance to back up what we believe to be true about the order of how these stores branded their jackets over the years. This label is the first time I have seen a "Transitionary" sort of Cross Over label. This label basically definitively lays out the evolutionary branding lineage of the Windward line through the 50s-60s as passing from Windward to Brent. This is indeed a significant label discovery in the narrative of the department store leather jacket. Now we need to find that elusive Sasquatch label that says "Hercules Oakbrook".

Regarding clothing made in China, there is a wide range in terms of quality to my experience, but most often than not, it will be on the lower end. Unless you know who you're dealing with, or you can check the products physically, the probability of getting higher-end goods is not very high.

Nice write up! Good to know there are others interested in the evolution of the various Brands. I have most of the Sears catalog pages of outerwear. I have nothing from Montgomery Ward or Penneys catalogs.

Montgomery Ward used a variety of labels. Here are a few. I don't seem to have the earliest MW label. They used the M and W letters to form a logo, but did not spell out Montgomery Ward.

Notice I need more Brent labels and I have Brent jackets!

Not sure when the labels changed from Windward to Brent. My theory is they changed with the decade or pretty close to that date. With this in mind I look at the transition label; late 50s early 60s. Perhaps earlier, but not later.

Sporty's Pilot Shop AN-J-3, medium, for $60 + $7 shipping. Great deal, I think? Newer, Pakistan-made version, looks like, and though I've never had one, my understanding is that these are solid quality. I'd have already snapped this up but I'd want a slimmer fit and Sporty's jackets appear quite roomy.
