Big man, does stu refurbish these or use them as patterns for new jackets he builds?

Like you said, it’s the base to understand the design and build his patterns off of them.

He doesn’t necessarily try to do a 100% repro, but adds some of their LW-dna to it and some adjustments to make the pattern better fit today’s physiology.

He mentioned how their Appalachian pattern was made just from looking at some pics provided by a customer. (@Carlos840)

I don’t know for sure, but I highly doubt he’d take on refurbishing a non-LW jacket.
