Seems a lot for a jacket which doesn't have the "associated" value of former celebrity ownership. Is this a particularly rare model? Nice, and practical, looking, but yeah, scary money!

I doubt very much it brought that actual price. It might be an entirely fictional sale item posted as sold to make prices site wide seem more reasonable even if they're jacked. Just guessing here, but $15K is foolishness, especially when Dinerman has such jackets lying about like dandelions for 1-5% of that price.

I like to think that the buyer then anonymously gave it away to a 13-year-old stranger who he read about in the paper who was dying of cancer but loved 1950s motorcycle movies.

That's what you pay when you buy vintage curated by a shop. The prices are always much higher than what you pay when you buy it directly from someone.

Interesting. This was my first trip to this website. Other than the Vintage MC jackets their other Leather Jackets are quite ordinary, run of the mill ebay stuff.

I have never seen these early Langlitz jackets with this label. While I have no doubt they are very collectible I do have doubts about the prices.

In my lifetime I will see the prices of vintage leather all slowly step through this door. Rest assured I planned my retirement in leather exclusively. Haven't you guys seen that Jean Documentary Called *Blue Gold* yet!?!?! I want those WWII Era Levis with OD green pockets, maybe I should ask the buyer of this Jacket if he could spare me 20 Grand and a round trip to Japan.

Agreed, but with one exception. Back in 2008, when we had a market crash, a small but exclusive retail shop, specialising in leather garments, was struggling to stay afloat. There was an £800 jacket to die for but I'm more of a suit and tie person. However, I tried it on. The proprietor said that he had done a deal with his supplier and that he could let me have it for half price. "Sorry," I said, "it's a lovely jacket, but I don't want to waste your time, it's still out of my price range." He wasn't giving up. "I have to admit," he said, "the way things are going, I'm just keen to liquidate as much as possible, make me an offer." There was £180 in my wallet. He took it.

Not long after that he had shut up shop for the last time. Did I have a guilt trip? Only for a nanosecond. And a year or so later that guilt trip evaporated when I discovered that the leather shop's supplier was a company within the Inditex group. The head honcho of which is one Amancio Ortega Gaona.

He is the founder and former chairman of Inditex fashion group, best known for its chain of Zara clothing and accessories retail shops. According to Forbes Magazine, he is currently (2017) the richest person in Europe, and the second richest in the world with an estimated net worth of $84.1 billion.
