Absolutely perfect jacket! Looks great with that rollneck sweater. I’ll even overlook the brown boots ;)
Hey, my theory is that the black teacore is really just "brown leather" in reality so they match in my book!

I've never been a black shoe or belt guy, so it's been hard to justify actually purchasing a pair, however I have recently jumped into the game with a black waxed flesh White's Nomad engineer on order. Yea, it's also a teacore so it both matches up top and underneath. I will eventually also get a John Lofgren engineer in black chromexcel which is, again, teacore with brown underneath so I'm cheating a bit, but black through and through? No, can't do that yet lol. Probably won't ever do that.

My black CXL Moorby boots are my go-to for black leather jackets. Also have black suede Vibergs and black White's semi-dress to mix things up. But the Moorbys (cheapest of the 3) end up on my feet more for some reason (maybe cuz I don't mind if they see bad weather, or if they kick rocks...lol).

It’s a slippery slope! For years, I only wore shades of brown leathers. Then I bought a black leather jacket. Now I have custom black boots and a belt on order.

I think you and I have a very similar mindset. I wear brown/tan boots and jackets almost exclusively, and it’s always been difficult for me to buy black. I remember the early 2000s when it seemed almost impossible to get a brown leather jacket - now they’re everywhere. I still want a teacore black jacket someday because I also believe that it looks amazing as it wears and the tan and brown shades come through. That being said, a rich brown leather is my favorite thing, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

I almost got a black teacore Route 66 for my first Field Leathers jacket, but as of last week I’m officially going with a brown pony Manhattan. I took the safe route on color and I’m taking my risks with the (new to me) pattern. I bought a used Vanson Model E from @ton312 for a super fair price and that really helped. It’s my first cross zip ever and I quickly learned what I like and don’t like about the style. Now I can customize my FL jacket and avoid some pitfalls.

I’m simplifying the Manhattan with no epaulets and no belt or belt loops. I plan on eliminating the collar snaps but keeping the lapel snaps to make it a bit more clean when I have to zip it all the way up. It would be even more clean to remove all four snaps, but I’m not sure the lapels would lay the right way without them. I am keeping the “D” pocket and the coin pocket on top of it. It’s getting exciting now that Greg is working on the cotton “fit” jacket!

Another gem @Jin431 . I love the shape of the lapels, how they rest on top of the shoulder.

thanks, the brown pony looks premium and it feels like I'll like it more than the brown aniline. it's the standard Manhattan collar/lapel, I requested Greg to spread the collar flatter and wider.

i requested wine quilted lining with red flannel for the sleeves/pocket bags and asked for red FL labels

Jin, this is an awesome jacket, absolutely love it. I'm on the FL waiting list (twice), and one of my choices will pretty much be your jacket

Tartan pockets takes the detail game up another level. Are those Hookless zippers?
Greg can now offer flannel for linings so that's cool for sure. Looks like a grommeted hookless zipper, he tried to get me a size 7 or 8 brass zips but he is currently out of stock.

Looks fantastic! Now tell us about that zipper.
requested for a size 7 or 8 brass zipper but Greg didn't have any on hand so he offered to use these Talons in brass finish. it's also a #5 size similar to the other Japan made repro Talons he uses. love that used it on the project as it feels just the right hardware for the jacket
