Fedoras & facial hair: are they mortal enemies?

Hell, to answer this question is simple.
I don’t give a s**t what anyone thinks about “my” hat or “my” beard because they are mine.
I only need to consider what i think about them. Anything else and i defeat “why” i wear either, or anything else for that matter. The rest is all fluff.
That’s my nice answer. Ha
Hope that helps.

Yes, it just seems like such an odd question. Men have beards; men wear hats, so...

There was this girl, back in the mid-80s when I was just rocking a mustache, who told me, "You'd look good with a beard."

I'm going to go downstairs in a few minutes and make her some dinner.

Hey Fru:
I love that!!
You gotta love any story that starts with...”There was this girl...”. Priceless.
Enjoy the happy ending to the story for years to come.

If you don’t think it’s a lightening rod then grow a big beard & see.

It seems like such an ignorant question to me.

My employment forbids beards and my wife forbids kissing when I have a mustache. Needless to say, I’m clean shaven most of the time (I rebel on my days off).

Styles and fashions change and there are no right and wrongs. These are all personal choices that some will like, some won’t like, and most wont care one way or the other.

I think the folks here at the Lounge pull off this look with ease.

My wife doesn't like beards, and she doesn't like hats. I don't know how I landed her!

I have had a beard since 1978 and I don't think it will leave me. I have worn hats since about 2000 and I don't expect to stop. I see no reason to change my preferences and if others do not care for the combination that is fine with me. I am not in the habit of living for the approbation of others.

She was probably impressed with your taste in leatherwear. I'll bet she said: "Nice wallet, dear."

Oddly enough there's a story not worth telling that relates to exactly that.

I can't really blame her about the beard sometimes. I tend to let it get it bit big in the winter months. Otherwise I try to keep it a bit shorter. As for hats, she's gonna have to develop an acquired taste I guess. She used to like the fashionable stingy brim fedoras I wore back in my rock band days. They're just not me, and don't fit the proportions of my face, so I don't wear them anymore.
