Beeee-u-teee-ful! Immediately thought of Greenland Gap. The Appalachians are pretty special no matter what state you're in.

Great couples. Enjoy your lives together, no much better than that!

My fishing trip on the Smith River didn’t work out due to lack of rain (the river closes to fishing if the flow isn’t high enough). I salvaged the trip by taking my wife on a pre-anniversary trip to Brookings Oregon, Crescent City California, Arcata California, and Eureka California. I went to college in Arcata and we lived in Eureka when we got married.

I work around Yosemite National Park, but the coastal Pacific Northwest gets my vote for the most beautiful part of the country.

Super, Brent. I dated a woman from Brookings for about a year. The weekend trips down from the Portland area were long, but quite scenic.

This afternoon, Monica and I took a walk to the west, using the old cart tracks that ran along the ridge of the hills from east to west and vice versa
Gazo 1 R.jpg

The road, wide enough to let a small wagon pass, starts from the end of one of the oldest agglomerations of houses in the village where I live
Gazo 3 R.jpg
Its name in ancient dialect is "Gazo" which means shady grove. The driveway runs between two walls that mark the properties cultivated with olive trees
Gazo 2 R.jpg

You then come to skirt a large vineyard facing south, with Verona and the plain in the horizon
Verona 1R.jpg

and then descending in the small valley adjacent to another vineyard and another ancient village
Qui 1 R.jpg

Qui 2 R.jpg

We then returned eastwards from another steep road only for pedestrians from which we embarked on the way back along these splendid autumnal landscapes
Pano 2 R.jpg

In the valley, under the wineyard you see a church tower, this is the place where I live
Pano 1 R.jpg

For the occasion I had a Borsalino "Rutenio" on my head

Beautiful! It is obvious you are well connected to your own history there, Daniele. Few of us have roots so deep in the land these days. I hope you keep making your own history along those pathways and continue to share with us along the way.

For you who love Venice, take a look.
Venezia is a masterpiece and still a live town
The wind from the sea, with gusts from 100 km per hour has brought into the lagoon a mass of water that has submerged Venice. It is the second high water after that of the great flood of 1966 which also affects Florence and most of Italy
Yesterday night in Venezia.

Looks like it was a grand ride, traveling in style!

We have many heritage railways, mostly branch lines that were rescued from closure by enthusiasts. It's always a memorable day travelling on a steam hauled train. Better still when it's with like minded friends:

This may not qualify for this Fedoras Afield thread because this area is pretty local for us...
Me and Mrs. quik did the Napa Valley Wine Train for my birthday this weekend. A lot of fun!
