Putting some more beat on the beater. Went camping with friends this weekend up in gold country at Malakoff Diggins state park. The park is preserving the historic site of the state's largest hydraulic gold mining operation. The valley just beyond the lookout fence post in the first photo is where the hillsides were cut out with huge hydraulic cannons. The process was of course an obvious environmental disaster, eventually flooding the Sacramento river basin and carrying silt down stream until it ended up in the SF bay. But now we have a nice campground near the Yuba river swimming holes.

I live not far from there but didn't even know it was there. Thanks JLee! And I like that beater hat a lot.

Went to las Salinas de Torrevieja today. Then I drove along the coast.

Thanks Bowen! I really don't have the double haul down, or single haul. Maybe the roll cast [emoji16].

Long distance lesson:
On pic #2 you are halfway to it. Pull left hand down another foot at beginning of backcast load. Raise it slowly back up to right hand as backcast straightens behind. At beginning of front cast load, left hand sharply down to nearly waist. Let er rip!! Zing zing!! Easy peasy!
Me love a good roll cast. Been known to use one to change directions 90 deg fast!
You know what they say, “them that can, do, them that can’t, teach”. Lol
Just re-watched The Shadow Cast on River Runs Through It last night.
Be well. Bowen

Gary and Jason Borger were consultants on the movie. Jason did the shadow casting.

Made it over to Buckaroo Hatters today. Mike and Rocky were pretty busy with walk ins but were really trying to work on another big J Peterman hat order.
I got a few shots of them working on the Peterman hats.

I don’t know what a J. Peterman hat is, but whatever moss goodness Rocky is holding looks pretty sweet!
