I do like that color Brent. Have not been to Mariposa, looks like my kind of tourist town.
It is a special place for my wife's family. They grew up going there. My brother in law lives in Fresno and we have had plans for a number of years for another family vacation there. I'll be the one in the hat...If you ever want to visit Yosemite let me know and we can get lunch...on me
Way cool images! ThanksOur recent vacation / journey landed us in NYC. I wanted to hit the 3 big shops there....JJ's Hats, Worth & Worth & Bencraft. But, alas Bencraft is closed on Saturdays. JJ's is reportedly the oldest hat shop in NYC. Very nice place and tons of hats, mostly production Stetsons, etc. they do customs but had very few on display. I really enjoyed Worth & Worth much better. Orlando, the owner chatted with me and my wife for some time. He is a true artist and I really like his work. I already have 2 Worth & Worth hats, so no purchases this trip. But, he did take my measurements for any futrure online orders I may decide on later, he had so many nice ones on display I just couldn't decide. Worth & Worths store is hidden on the 6th floor of the Turnbull & Asser building, kinda hard to find....wife and I were standing outside with our google map looking around and the salesman from Turnbull comes out and said he saw my "great looking" fedora and figured we were looking for Worth & Worth, and said this happens all the time and showed us how to get to the 6th floor from his shop. I'm really liking his Sheriffs hat from Stranger Things.....

Me too, they did this on many of their display hats. They also mixed a horsehair right over the ribbon... hmmmm thats different.I like seeing these horsehair and beaded bands on something other than a wide-brim western. Thanks for sharing the pics and story!

I would love to see a presentation like this. Not an area of history I'm well versed in, but hell, all history is interesting to me! A great day, I'm in envy Jack.We attended an outdoor performance of Sam Wright's one-man play, "Crazy Horse: A Dream of Thunder" yesterday. The plot & timeframe of Wright's play begins in 1854 with the attempted arrest of Chief Conquering Bear by Lt. Grattan over a stolen cow when Crazy Horse was just 11 yrs old, resulting in 29 dead in what is known today as the Grattan Massacre. It progresses with Crazy Horse being honored as a Lakota "Shirt Wearer" at the age of 16; his marriage & the birth & death of both his wife & infant daughter from disease; his bravery at the Battle of Little Bighorn; & of the trickery of his capture & murder at Ft. Robinson, NE.
Wright does a terrific job using props such as hats, headdresses, feathers, blankets & leggings as he plays the parts of the various characters, interacting with each other. It helps to know the history but easy enough to follow if you don't.

Excuse the necessary cropped pics with so many people there. It was in the low 90*s so I chose to wear my big Sunbody for protection from the sun.

Besides Sam Wright we still have a local actor who does storytelling as Cole Younger & another "semi-retired" actor who still occasionally does Frank James. Father Time finally caught up with our Buffalo Bill Cody so he retired & closed his Wild West Show.

I really wanted to wear my Thoroughbred but didn't want to sweat it all up.Thanks for sharing your outdoor performance of Crazy Horse. Sunbody was most appropriate for the conditions. That is something I should make time to see. Best, Eric -
Great day trip, and lid, Mike! Although... that top rock in the stack looks a little too Pirate-y for a family entertainment lounge, hehehe...For Talk Like a Pirate Day I took my wench to the ocean! We couldn't sail the briny sea, so we watched it from shore. The Oregon Coast is one of our favorite day trips. Found a perfect Pirate business outside of Newport, had to stop. Beautiful day, although the surf was not as churning as we would like. Stetson Porkpie Back Bow from the late 1950s braved the elements.

I have no idea what you're talking about--it's clearly nothing more than a makeshift sundial.Great day trip, and lid, Mike! Although... that top rock in the stack looks a little too Pirate-y for a family entertainment lounge, hehehe...
